Hello trying to help a friends mom out.

2006 Jetta USA spec

every so often, immo activates and car will not start, usually if it sits overnight she said it starts fine. Well we replaced the waterpump on it over the weekend and now it wont start and immo is active again. So we waited, and waited, immo stays on.

Only code is in immo module in VCDS, no key stored it says. I think the immo box is on its way out the door!

i tried to immo off the eeprom from ecu with no luck(i am good with me7/med9.x) This is truly the first diesel i ever have worked on ecu with! Ive attached eeprom, can it be immo'd off to fix this? or should we replace something else?

Really are trying to help the old lady out! Car is in shop right now that my friend works for. Car is originally rebuilt title car here in the states. I will try this file too. I had Magic do IMMO off too. I have tried 5 different ways myself with no success. Thanks

I will check on security waiting. I did put ori eeprom in before i left the shop and it started stalled like normal. With my immo off attempts, it would just crank, no start at all.

Ok, so immo off is working! thanks.

Now it starts/runs. But it flashes the key symbol still, immobilizer holds the code for "No Key" no communication or signal in VCDS.

Key still locks/unlocks(but seperate system from immo id say)

So did IMMO lose key info? Do we know PIN from this dump or is it encrypted? I can maybe try to add key with pin to cluster and see if this code disappears.

Any thought of what could cause this? Cluster or Key probably needs replaced?

Sad news, either Key is bad, or Cluster is bad.

Cannot see key, erase keys, or anything, errors on all operations. I think cluster is halfway bad.

IMMO off shows today after driving some a CEL for bad checksum, thats ok ill fix it(eeprom checksum) and thats that. Its a lot of $$ for these parts i told her, so she can live with flashing "key" on dash.

Immo 3 and 4 generation :
With Immo off in ECU you will get Error if you try to adopt keys.
You HAVE TO have Immo On to be able to adopt keys or ECU.

About bad eeprom checksum CEL,it is not going to correct .
Checksum is not calculated correct with immo off. Maybe writing did not go good.

I would read file again and compare with Immo off file to see is your programer write file good.

Yugo,

I did verify proper write. I am not sure issue. However IMMO on and matching keys is a good hint! thanks. This makes a lot of sense now. I will put original file on and try to clear stored keys and re add this key in and see what the results are.

Thanks for the IMMO help to everyone!

Nice to see your updates. Please tell if with ori file reprogramming is successful. (might be a bad transponder in key as well, just use a new one.) And to get this warning light off, just connect it to oil pressure lamp or battery charging lamp and you'll be fine, even with a working bulb check. Otherwise you might wanna cover it with tape or silicon.

so key transponder is surely bad. Immo off is ok now no checksum error, test drove it two time with many restarts, its good to go. Just a flashing key light for now.

We have to wait to get a new transponder as she does not have the money right now to repair, just enough to fix the issue at this moment.

And how you going to do this with LED light ?
VW clusters after 99 are all LED bulbs and it can not be switched around like you saying.
