If anyone could shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it. This morning I had a client who had a dash that someone removed the led out from behind the check engine light, lol. So basically he went for inspection and failed. So he goes and buys a new dash and brings it to me to adapt. I get the login codes from both old and new dash, perform adaptation, confirm that the new dash shows both Correct (New) VIN and Correct IMMO ID (New) although when I went to do key matching, it refused to add any keys. If you guys could take a look I would appreciate it, I tried to just rewrite the old eeprom to the new dash but wound up with a DEF error so that wouldnt work.

At worst case if someone could take file NEWDASH.BIN and just make it immo off, I should have no problem using his keys.

I will include both dash files, OLDDASH.BIN and NEWDASH.BIN, I'm not really a KEY or IMMO guy so this is sort of territory that I don't explore that often but have done many times for friends. All Info is below, and THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Car : 2003 Passat Wagon
Immo System : IMMO3

OLDDASH.BIN :
login code : 1265
115464 miles

NEWDASH.BIN
Login Code : 2663
115859 miles

Thanks Again

No immo off solution in dash m8.
Read ECU for that.
When you try to adapt keys, look in channel 24, all lock time must be 0.
Also check channel 22, filed 3 - must be 1

Lupu,
I read IMMO3 system pin with Smelecom, and get pin 2663. I then read dash with MDC and Smelecom and dash gives pin 2663 also. So Im assuming IMMO is located in dash, In US now IMMO is in CCU. This is Petrol car, so no edc15/16. Also, when adapting all you write above is exactly as shown in VCDS, perfect.

First I read both dashes and save original eeprom. Then I get pin code from both dashes. I then put new dash in car, go into VCDS, enter login and goto channel 50, dash adaptation. I put in old dash code and save. Now when I re-read 17, I now see Correct VIN of car, followed by CORRECT IMMOID, and then old IMMOID. Now when I then check values above, all are correct via measuring blocks. Then I go into key adaptation, and see 3 keys programmed what is stored in dash. i try to change to 2, which will be the new keys I am adapting and it will not let me save. For some reason it is not letting me adapt the keys, the dash is adapting no problem. Also, if IMMO is not in dash how is IMMO login 2663??

I dont really do keys, this is why I hate this crap. And I look to you or anyone else on here who can help.

Lupu,
Also, why when I write old dash EEPROM file to new cluster, which should essentially be a clone 1:1 do I get DEF error? I don't see why I cannot just make 1:1 clone of cluster? I try to use AVDI and make virgin but nothing happen

This is Passat B5 6Cylinder Petrol, ME 7.1X ECU also if that helps

Have you tried clearing the old keys by login in and saving adaption channel 00

Yes it will let me clear old keys, and set to 0 keys. But after I set to 0 keys and save it will stay at 0. When I try to adapt more keys, it just gives me ERROR in vcds. I can change from 3 to 0, but cannot change from 0 to 3, lol. It seems to be letting me change adaptation for keys before I adapt dash to car, once I adapt dash to car it will not let me change. Very Very strange, like title of post LOL

Smokey,
The thing is I believe IMMO is located in Dash, which would mean new keys would be channel 10 I believe. Now I am reading Ross-Tech site and for B5 it is also saying IMMO is in dash for this model. However, if it is seperate IMMOBOX that I will try adapting IMMO 25, and adaptation 00

immo is in dash on this model, no separate immo box.. I have done loads of these and never had this problem.

New keys in channel 21 not 10 IIRC.

Yes channel 21, lol.. My head is spinning. So this is what I thought from the begginning. So if IMMO is in dash, why can we not write immo-off. Also with IMMO being in dash like originally said, why is it not accepting keys?

This is what I followed
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_III_Key_Matching_(Cluster)

Actually my above post is incorrect, In the guide it says channel 10. Please see guide.

there must be a problem either with the ecu or the immo cannot read the key either faulty aerial what are the fault codes immo is in dash for keys etc but also in ecu that is why the light was removed someone had obviously removed the immo from the ecu

The removed the Check Engine LED, not the IMMO led. When I rehook up the old dash, keys work, car starts, remotes work as the car is running now with old dash and keys. Ive adapted plenty of dashes and keys although this is why i dont make a business out of it and do it more as a favor. For the measly 100usd I was going to charge the client to readapt the dash and keys to new dash he can keep it. I'm letting this job go and let him go and pay VW..

Thanks Everyone

unlock 48 transponders and write to new dash.

unlock 48 transponders and write to new dash.

Is this in dash, or immobilizer? I'm assuming I will go into instruments 17, login with pin, and then goto channel 48? Is this correct

when the keys were programmed to the old dash - magic 48 locked to the dash. unlock the 48 transponder using zed bull. or use different 48 transponders that is not locked and program into the new dash via chanell 21.
