Citroen C5, 2003, engine RHZ
this car gearbox work properly, but immediately the temperature reaches 140 degrees Celsius.in maxim 5 km.
From this point, gearbox, not change gear,I replaced the gearbox oil, but ,still that way, after excessive heat oil,the tester shows the gear 3, but the car does not move from place,If the engine stop and restart it, the car is moving about 100 meters, then can not move, engine can accelerate the normal.
if I let the car cool, go again, about 5 km
the tester is an error: skating in transmission.

ask member 'autotrans' but beleive if you remove end cover theres a filter full of metal fillings.
140 Deg c - hot enough to boil water, nearly hot enough to melt solder.
possable band failure, metal against metal.

can anyone has documentation for the gear box? an internal wiring diagram, and the mechanics, within the gearbox?

RHZ what size engine is that, it could be ZF or AL4 transmission

I have had these faults before and was the cluches and brake bands are worn. recommened the gearbox be overhauled. worked on lots of these boxes. Plus make sure the EVM valves are replaced as well.:bounce:

Meathead was on the right track ( filter clogging up ) breaking the lug off the band is very common, but you would be struggling to pull away from a standing start with this. more likely E1 clutch slipping & this would generate a lot of heat in 3rd & 4th, the filter is trapped between the bell housing & main case so i would follow Turbo5GT'S advice & go for the overhaul
