I have a 306 1.8 meridian Petrol, not sure whether i have a petrol leak, or problems since i have changed the timing belt. It is drinking to much fuel....

I use the car mainly locally 1-3 miles small journeys (max speed 40),

How much miles should i get with ?20 fuel??

If you are working out you milage from price then at the rate petrol is going up your milage is going to go down in relation to that

you need to work out mpg and how many gallons you get for ?20

I get this all the time in my work you should never try to work out fuel consuption by money as its always changing you should work it out by a set standard e.g. a gallon or liter.
Anyway you should be getting around 30 mpg
its about ?1.08 a liter now which equals 18.52 liters for ?20.00 there are 4.545 liters in a uk gallon which means you should get 4.11 gallons for ?20 4.11 * 30mpg = 123.46 for 20 quid or ther abouts (hope that helps)

yeah go off how many miles you get from a gallon not money, my megane 1.5dci does an average of 46mpg round town and it drops when the wife drives it as she doesnt believe in gears ha ha......it all depends on how you drive m8 rev it more=more fuel used

I have a Peugeot 3.7 2 ltr Diesel. I am one of those that dont take notice of the price or many miles i get to a gallon,

I have to use the car therefore just fill it up every week. It doesnt help when my fuel gauge is ~~~~ed.

I got about 100 miles local miles for ?20 petrol fuel (4 gallons).

So i am getting about 25 miles per gallon locally.

Is that normal for a 1.8 peugeot 306 petrol car?

Is there anything I can do to the car to improve the performance? eg take the car to a tuning station?

Appreciate if someone can get back to me. Max

I've got a SEAT Leon Cupra T and can get ~360 miles from a full tank. On average ~32mpg but it depends on the journey, it doesn't like the shorter routes and gets more value from motorway stuff.

I have a Picasso 2.0 HDI diesel.... I get around 177 miles for ?20 of fuel @ ?1.26 a litre.

My last tank gave me 684 miles... According to the trip computer the tank I am on now will give me over 700 miles! Although the trip computer is a bit pants sometimes...

Wow thats a big pug AM, 3.72Litre lol

If your only doing 1-3 miles a day, the car will be pretty much on choke the whole way (ie electronically enriched fuel) so your mpg will be well down.
Years ago I worked locally and tested mpg for my 2 mile trip day in day out. It was 24mpg for a car that did 36mpg on normal driving. (a cavalier 1.8 SRi)
