This is a link off idealo.de which leads to a site called csmultimedia. It lists the duo2 as 599 euro and the solo2 as 399 euro.
They say it is not in stock and the release date is unknown, but nothing about the price being a guesstimate.
Do you reckon they're just trying to drum up some interest in it or is this likely to be the price?

I thought that the solo would be that price but I would wait until someone else buys it and tries it. lol

if the solo is 399 euro i reckon that'll be a good buy. Stick one of the twin tuner modules in it and you've got a very well specced twin tuner for a fair price.
I'm not really fussed by that vfd so i reckon the solo would be the way to go.

It already is twin tuner. But yes it would be a nice box to have if it lives up to hype.

Equipped with dvb-s2 twin tuner and 2.5 hdd support.

So the only advantage of the duo2 over the solo2 seems to be support for a 3.5" internal hdd, the vfd and the built in wifi? Is that correct?
For 200 euro extra it seems like it's not really worth it to me.
If those prices are accurate that is.

No the Duo2 has 2 x Plug & Play DVB-S2 modules which when the Dual Plug and Play Modules are released will make the Duo2 a Quad tuner Sat receiver or a twin coupled with a DVB-T/C tuner module if you so wish.

The Solo2 is a fixed tuner reciever

Ok. still think I'd go for the solo if it has twin tuner.
If the price is correct, I'll be first in line when they're released.

The Duo2 is rumoured to have a UK street price of ?450-500, launch October

Shop around and the Ultimo is a bargain at the moment.

The duo2 so called prices seen so far are a estimate, no one will know what the price will be until they launch, when ever that may be. as for the tuners i'm not getting into that argument again but the Ultimo and Uno have recently had a substantial upgrade in the form of drivers and a FPGA upgrade for their tuner operation.

Duo2 launches October, expect in the shops by end of October or early November.

The price.... ?450-500.. call it an 'estimate' if you like, I can assure you it's a little more 'informed'....

Well that falls in with what I said in the first post. ?599 is about ?450-?500.
So a ?399 solo would do me nicely.

let's hope we get the same for the tuner on the duo model
to be honest i dont have a problem with the duo
it's a great box and it put my dm800se to shame
for quality and it has a lot better images, all i want is a bit more
signal and quality on the weaker sats like 7w and 3e

Dream make fantastic receivers, always have done.

The VU+ Duo however is a legend in it's own right. It single handedly gatecrashed Dream multimedia's party.

It's a rock solid workhorse and it brought affordable Quality Linux E2 to the masses. It's still VU+ biggest seller.

I cant fault my current Uno at the moment it is slightly better tuner wise than my Ultimo was and the recent FPGA upgrade has squeezed a little more out of it, But it still cant match my DrHD F15 for tuner sensitivity it can still pull signals in my Uno cannot.

when is this duo 2 arriving?

giga blue quad is released and is ?339 from uk sellers. Not bad pricing but need to see how it goes.

if the duo2 is ?400 it would be reasonable. Will the duo2 have Gigabit ethernet? the gigablue quad does not have Gigabit LAN when it was rumored to have that.

I am holding off to buy an ultimo until the duo 2 arrives. I think I would prefer duo 2 if the price is similar to the ultimo, but need to be quick as I have a buyer for my dm800 clone
