Can anyone help with internet settings on iphone 3gs?
I am on virgin contract and i bought an iphone. I get good signal, calls and txt are fine just no web.

Phoned virgin who said they sent the settings but when i phoned back after no joy, they said they don't sell iphones therefore don't really support them but i could find help on their forum.
I searched the forum and tried various suggestions to no avail.

i can't access the "cellular mobile service", as someone suggested, to change the settings.
On phone settings it says Tmobile internet?

I'm stuck please help

Reset network settings in the menu, then click on the text message they sent you with the settings.
See if that works m8.

have a look at this ... most networks on it ... think virgin is there.

Access Point Name (APN) settings for UK mobile network providers. | Settings (http://www.unlocked-dongle.co.uk/Settings/access-point-name-apn-settings-for-uk-mobile-network-providers.html)

This the absolute basic settings but should be enough to let you get on the web.

Remember to NOT press "reset settings" but work your way back to the setting page and press airplane mode to on and then off again ... and then Bob's your Uncle etc etc.

Good luck.

Have a look here mate but access the site through the safari browser on your idevice, and it will automatically update all your network settings. Just select your country and service provider.

Tried all suggestions but still no web :(

Phoned virgin again and they emailed me this link
3G signal now accessible when roaming on Orange (v... - Page 2 - Help & Support Forum (http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Mobile/3G-signal-now-accessible-when-roaming-on-Orange-virgin/td-p/955681/page/2)
Which was similar to the unlockit app. But that doesn't work either. I'm stuck! i'm gona try a phone stall on the local market and if they can't do it the iphones getting sold!

Have you enabled 3G in the settings and are you getting a 3G icon next to the virgin icon in the top left of your screen??.

Still no 3g! Only wanted the phone for that reason too.

3g is enabled but there is no 3g icon. I have tried other network sims and they work fine it's just my virgin sim that wont work.

I dont want to change network because the deal i have is unbeatable anywhere else

Sorted it finally! :)

I put my mums virgin sim in my phone and it worked so i rang virgin to get a new sim.
Got sim 2days later no 3g!!
Rang them to maybe enable 3g their end, and the girl on phone seemed surprised that it wasn't already????She enables and Hey presto it worked!

So it was either virgin call centre workers utter dumbassness by not enabling 3g during the five calls i made! or it was cos my sim was old and needed upgrading.

I Used the unlockit app, Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone (http://www.unlockit.co.nz/unlockit/) johnboy1974 suggested, to change settings to virgin. Which was essential as i couldn't access the APN settings on the iphone manually.

Another problem sorted with the help of DK :)

Ginge some providers don't allow you access the apn settings on the phone and have them hidden away out of sight.i had the same problem with mine on the 3 network. It's a cracking wee fix that and I'm glad it worked for you too.
