REBEL striker Steven Fletcher partied with a bottle of *Buckfast in Ibiza as his old Scotland team-mates prepared for the road to Rio.

The national team could only manage a 0-0 draw at Hampden on the first day of the World Cup qualifying campaign and fans renewed calls for the return of Scotland most expensive player.

But the Sunday Mail can reveal that ?14million Sunderland star Fletcher spent much of international week in a Scottish theme bar on the Spanish party island.

Craig Levein training sessions looked like the last thing on his mind as the 25-year-old posed with a bottle of the tonic wine in Kilties bar in San Antonio.

In another picture, the striker donned earphones and had a go at being a DJ.

Instead of watching Scotland yesterday, Fletcher spent the day at upmarket Ocean Beach, with Gary Linekers brother Wayne and the club co-director Tony Truman.

One onlooker said: He was having a great time, meeting people and chatting away.

He even posed for a few photographs with a few fans who recognised him.

As he Scottish, it was probably only Scots and Sunderland supporters who *recognised him.

He spent around four or five hours in the club most exclusive VIP area, known as the owners bed which has a minimum spend price tag of 5000 euros.

There were several wine buckets on the table, and at least one of them had a large bottle of bubbly in it.

Fletcher, 25, jetted out to San Antonio on Thursday for the four-day break with friends in a trip sanctioned by his club boss Martin ONeill.

Our photos were taken in Kilties that night. Later, he took pals to legendary *nightspot Pacha to see superstar DJ David Guetta.

One holidaymaker said He got quite a lot of attention when he was spotted in the bar. But he didnt look like he was bothered about Scotland playing at all.

People were asking him about Craig Levein but he didnt say much.

He was just having a laugh, like everyone else in the pub, and was happy to pose for pictures with people. He and his pals ordered a bottle of Buckfast from the bar.

Another said: He was brilliant with everyone in the bar and was happy to pose for pictures in here.

Loads of the staff and punters are Scotland fans though and there must have been a few wishing he was back home to face Serbia.

Fletcher has been in international exile because of a feud with Scotland boss Levein. The manager was furious at the striker for sending a text message *- saying he did not want to be selected for a friendly against Northern Ireland.

Since his ?14million summer move from Wolves and two goals in his debut for his new club, there has been as growing clamour for a truce between the two men.

Even Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has waded into the row and said it was a shame the argument could not be fixed. And in his pre-match press conference, Serbia manager Sinisa Mihajlovic taunted his Scots counterpart by saying Fletcher was Scotlands best player.

Fletcher made no secret of the fact he would be partying while his teammates were preparing themselves for the clash.

His friends took to Twitter to talk about their plans.

Kim McFarlane wrote: Thanks @stevenfletch10 for last night! Yet again one of my best night might even have topped last year! xx She also posted a photo of a tanned Fletcher wearing a white vest and cut-off denim shirt in the club.

Kilties is San Antonios most popular *Scottish bar and attracts visitors from all over the country.

As well as Scottish drinks, they serve a range of Scottish delicacies such as haggis, stovies and black pudding.

But although the pub was showing yesterdays 0-0 draw at Hampden, Fletcher was nowhere to be seen. Tuesdays match with Macedonia at Hampden has become a must-win game for the Tartan Army. The players were booed off the pitch on Saturday by some supporters after the lacklustre *display against the Serbs.

Levein admitted after the match that he was disappointed with the result a view shared by most of the Tartan Army.

TV commentator Derek Rae said: Frightening thing is Serbia might be only the third-best team in the group. Difficult road ahead.

Veteran fans Kenneth McLellan, 54, of Dumbarton, and Stan Smith, 63, of Aberdeen, reckon Scotland can still qualify for the finals in Brazil despite the stuttering start.

Kenneth said: Im always optimistic and I believe were good enough to get to the finals.

Scotland fans deserve to go to the World Cup in Brazil and I think this team can take us there. Stan added Win, lose or draw, I'll

always support Scotland. But we should have had a victory today. Were better than Serbia. We just didnt take our chances.

Stan added We'll win against Macedonia and forget about todays result.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez was among the top football bosses at the game and Rangers boss Ally McCoist attended.

McCoist had urged Rangers fans angry at the SFA to forget their differences and back
the national team.
