You need sw for ecu with tprot disabled if exist for that ecu.

I mean earlier version of the official sw before the antituning got activated.

i have a vag edc17cp14. i can write via bootloader with magic x17 but very time consuming. want to flash via obd if possible.
do you know if a sw exists for cp14 ecu?
currently has tp7.

ok. so how would this even matter if the flash has parts that are otp? you cant write the software without tprot because of the otp.
possible to bypass the otp? or is there another type of patch available?

Hello.
TP is in the OTP area of the proc and cannot be erased/overwritten. The ecu gets it by production. There is no known way to unlock it, when it is enabled.
I like it when those ecus cannot be done over OBD :-)

Maybe the OTP is not that, but simulated. Happend before.

Maybe, Maybe not. Blabla. Such postings are useless or what do you want to tell us? See the tricore datasheets yourself. All is freely available.
Try to erase and overwrite it in bootmode and when you find a way then tell us how you did it! Or do it for money and become incredibly rich because you can re-virginize all the medc17 ecus on ebay...

yes, according to all datasheets otp is locked for ever.
so tprot bypass is in other parts of flash.
can someone help?

Who said that there is any tprot bypass?

lots of people. :)

Show me one of them who flashes a tuned file over OBD on a
TP7 car and the car starts afterwards.
We would all love to see that.

NO. you must first dump file in bootloader mode. patch tprot, flash tprot bypass file in bootloader mode, then you are able to reflash via obd.

OK. But what is it good for then?

reflashing bad tune files by (maybe) better ones. LOL

exactly. for a hobbyist tuner like myself who is always looking to improve their tune, bootloader flashing is tedious. easier to flash via obd.

OK. I agree. Now i understand the reason.

hobbyist should look for second ecu. and clone the original.
that way you can hook it up and 'play' but when it go wrong, you put in original ecu and drive to work.
test ecu you can make with a plug. male/female. so reflashing is just open ecu, insert diy plug. read/write and done.

i think magic motorsport was one of the first to do this hack you discribe. give them a mail.... again i say i think.... so i'm not sure...

yes, your solution is a good one. but edc17 ecu is pricey. and i do not need a 2nd ecu. tprot solution is much better.
btw, i have complete x17 tool including vag edc17cp14 ecu plug. bootloader flashing is easy but tedious removing ecu from car each time. see my need for obd solution. plug and go flashing. no need to remove ecu.

Look at chiptuners.org, there is a guy who can do it. But it is not cheap
