Hallo to everyone,
As a newbie the questions are too many, but then we need to start from somewhere.
1. I have bought a HD which I plan to install the next days. Do I need anything extra not contained in the box (example cables screws etc). Is there something I need to take special care of before and/or during installation?
2. I have also bought a USB stick (2GB) where I am supposed to enter alternative images in order to load, but how can I do that? What else is needed in order to achieve that and how can I make my Dreambox multiboot so I can choose which image to load.
3. I have already updated the box with the Oozoon image (with the use of DreamUp 1.3.3.4 from official site a network cable and a null modem cable (these are the only tools I have by the way)), but while searching I found that Nabilo is much better looking and hopefully with more things available. I somehow do not seem to have permission to download it. Why?
4. After I install the HD is it possible to save and be able to view photos, mp3 and DVDs? If yes which is the relevant plugin I need to download for each of the above?

I have many other questions but I think I will be ok for the next few days if I will have answers on all these questions.

Regards

GeorgeN

hi m8

with hdd the ide cable should be inside the box ,the only thing you might need is a few tiny screws to mount the hdd to the chasis inside the dreambox

insert the usb stick

then check the image in the flash oozoon in your case to see if barry allen installed by holding the blue button or via the plugin list
if not
is your box connected to a router via ethernet cable to make it networked
if so
download the barry allen plugin via plugins download button over the internet.

barry allen multi boot plugin when installing it

it will look for a cf card first usb second and hdd third to do the multiboot
setup
your devices, hdd ,usb must be installed before adding barry allen
so you may have to reflash oozoon image after installing them
once the plugin installed
barry allen should of created a folder on the hdd called mb_ images
with a ftp programe
transfer your images to that folder in your dreambox
then goto barry allen plgin in the oozoon image
for some thing like extract nfi images from mb_image
chose what image you want
this image will be extracted to your usb stick
so when you reboot the dreambox it will bring up a screen with barry allen and then select your image
that image will be booted to your dreambox

this should work as i dont have a dm7020 lol
for mp3,s create a folder on your pc fill it with mp3 format ftp that to the hdd on the dreambox , then use the media player on that image to play them

Thanks to gmb45 and especially to westkill for their answers so far.
We had progress since yesterday...
I managed to download the Nabilosat image and install it on the box memory. It seems better than Oozoon so far.
Some things though do not seem to work or maybe it needs further setup...
For example yellow button and again brings you to the menu Addons Manager -->Downloads manager and for example Skins (the same is for anything from this screen) and I get a download error...
I just installed the HDD and it seems to be OK.
I am just about to insert the USB stick...
westkill could you please rephrase everything to Nabilosat terms since I now have this installed.
Yes I have a router but the above maybe shows that there is a problem somewhere... and I do not know where.
Lets make sure first that the image is installed correctly and there is not something missing...???
Please refer specifically to any software needed to do the jobs described earlier (where can I find these ftp software and which are they...???)

for the addons manager to work it needs a internet connection
so plug ethernet into router and into dreambox
then there should be a comunications menu
usally in menu>setup>comunications or some thnig like that lol

tick dhcp and save you should be able to download from the addons manager
if not you might have todo a static
ip address
subnet
gateway/router
dns server
all these should be the same as the pc , but the last digit one higher on the dreambox ip address.

Hi,
The box is already connected to the router.
I manage to see the box through the web interface so the network seems to be ok. Still though the box does not manage to download anything.
Latest news:
I downloaded and installed an update for the router I do not know if this was it but now the box has downloaded many things.
I have downloaded skins, plugins (jukebox, vnc viewer)
Still can not find in the list the barry allen plugin...
Please refer to a specific software to find/download in order to transfer mp3 to box-hdd.
Thanks so far...!!!
GeorgeN

PS.
1. On Astra 28 no frequencies were included when I installed Nabilo image why is that? of course I entered them manually...
2. for frequency 12.411 V @ 27500 there are some channels listed in kingofsat.net as BBCi 1 to 7 all receivers (I also have a commander 6000 irci) recognize them as STREAM 1 to 6 and the other one as ITV stream. I have not managed to see these channels on my screen although the box has scaned them. I scaned them also manually (manual transponder scan) and it showed that it had scanned them. No channels added so that means that they had been scanned during the initial scan. Still though I can not see them on my screen. What is happening? do I miss something here?
3. USB stick is plugged in but how do i know it has been recognized by the box?
4. I have installed jukebox plugin but I do not think it works ok. I have written some mp3 on the USB stick (though my pc) and it does not seem to recognize them. I suppose I am doing something wrong here but I do not know what is it???

================================================== ==

1) Prerequisites

During the installation there has to be CF
card in the Dreambox (attention: insert or remove
into Dreambox 7025 cardreader only when Dreambox
is turned off), or an USB stick which is successfully
detected (in case of problems try an USB Hub).

If Barry Allen on USB is used then put
the CVS Image from OoZooN in Flash, because this image
has the USB drivers permanently built into the kernel.

If neither CF card not USB Stick are attached then
installation takes place on the Harddisk. Because
the images then also run from there it will run
permanently and it could be necessary that you disable
Harddisk Standby in the images to allow running Barry
Allen stable from Harddisk.

2) Installation

First boot from Flash and then copy the file
enigma2-plugin-extensions-barryallen*.ipk
to /tmp with ftp (TCP/IP must be working already).

If you have an image in Flash that offers a Blue
Pannel Manual Addon Install, then you can use this
functionality to install the ipk file.

If not, then install Barry Allen by entering the
following commands in a Telnet session:

cd /
ipkg install /tmp/enigma2-plugin-extensions-barryallen*.ipk

Then restart enigma2 and the Barry Allen Plugin
shoudl show up under Games / Plugins.

In the Images installed by Barry Allen you don't have
to install the Barry Allen Plugin anymore.
The Barry Allen Plugin integrates himself into then
automatically during the image extract.

And you can remove Barry Allen if you are booted
from Flash:

ipkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-barryallen

3) Usage

There is now the enigma2 Plugin of Barry Allen included
under Games / Plugins of the enigma2 menu,
which offers the full functionality of Barry Allen.

For extracting of nfi images in Barry Allen copy the
image files to /MB_Images (normally a link to
/media/hdd/MB_Images created during Barry Allen
installation)

If there are Problems with image extraction or other tasks
with the enigma2 plugin try doing it in telnet:

cd /media/ba
ba.sh extract nameoftheimage

On the next reboot this new Image should be available
in the bootmanager for choosing to boot it and then it
can be customized and used as usual.

The Bootmanager now should remember the last booted
image and hence recordings from Deepstandby should work
now.

================================================== ==
Have Fun using Barry Allen
on your Dreambox !!!!

Hallo again,

Thanks westkill for all the things you do for me.
Thanks again for the barryallen tool.
How do I pass this to the box?
I have also the same question as to how to transfer my mp3 to the hdd. You said I can use an ftp program but which?
I am at a loss about which application does what.
(which application I use to transfer images to usb, which to transfer and install tools and plugins, which to transfer mp3 to hdd, which to save settings and other things like bouquets and channel lists to pc so as to have them available if a crash or something else happens and I need to transfer them back to the box).
Please suggest a program for each of the above (for example: Dreamup = used to install an image to the flash memory)
Thanks again and sorry if I am asking things that may be silly to experienced users-owners of dreambox receivers.

in the downloads theres a program called flash fxp or dcc (dreambox control centre)
which is a program that transfers files from your pc to the dreambox
on one side of the screen you will see your pc and on the other the dreambox
make sure your box is connected to your router or pc add the ip address of your dreambox.

when it transfers a file it copies it fro your pc to the box
so you dont lose the original on your pc.

Hi again,
There seems to be something wrong with my internet connection-router or with the site of nabilosat because the box does not manage to make a connection again...
Since the last time I got connected and downloaded skins, plugins, etc, I have not made any change to anything... I just tried to connect again yesterday and download some other things again and I got the message I had been getting.
Note that pc and box connect ok through the router (I have already copied to the hdd of the box my photos and some mp3...)
I am at a loss...:dong::dong::dong:

Hello GeorgeN,

I had a similar problem with my 7020 and Nabilo Darkstar II image. I had to change the DNS. I use opendns, and it works fine. Also check the default gateway, that should match your router address.

OpenDNS:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Hi there to everyone after a long time of absence...

@ westkill:
1. I have downloaded the Barry Allen you have provided but when I tried to install it it reurned that it is not a darkstar file and it removed it from the list "manually install add-ins" so the question is do I need to go to a default or an OoZooN image on the box and install Barry Allen and then have darkstar or any other image on the USB...???

2. what is strange regarding the box's internet communication is that sometimes I can download things and sometimes not

@ elektronic
Do I really need to do this...??? If yes then why is that (I do not technically understand it) and if I am supposed to put something on this field then why not to enter the one my internet provider will give me...??? I suppose if I ask them they will provide me with one...???

@ anyone available
1. in various cases I have downloaded and installed available keys (through the yello button). but I noticed no change to the channels regarding the described updates. what is wrong...???

2. I have downloaded the Netcast Radio and will follow the instructions as to how to add new stations... then what should I do next...??? how do I install it...??? where and what do I see in my box - how do I run it...??? need instructions for every step...

Many many thanks to anyone who will answer to any of the above

Respect

GeorgeN
