sorry but to fix this it maybe necessary to strip out interior and the get someone outside with a hose.

done hundreds over the years and this was sometimes the only way.

even water that came through windscreen ended up in the rear.

Quick checks
Windscreen,
Bulkhead,
Sunroof Including drain tubes

But ideally you need to find how the water is getting to the rear then follow it to the source..

Try the door seal and the rear window seals,it can leak though there, and come out the bottom of the door into the car and also all what the riddler has said, sorry mate it's trail and error, good luck

The pollen filter is behind the glove box, I dont think the water is likely to enter there but if it is! pollen filter is likely to be wet. If yours has a sunroof check & clear drain outlets x4. Most rear puddles start from the front, check & clear scuttle drain oulets. Then give somefeedback for further help

is the car parked lower at the front like on a hill, water entering
through rear lamps is a common problem.

OK, if it has a moonroof, there a feature on these to leak, THINK it's in the handbook about how good they leak.

IF it has a moonroof, open it, then SLOWLY pour a cup of water in each corner one at a time, it should drain away.

is there any skid marks on the head liner?

Good point, depends which way your looking at.

Was thinking if there a roof joint gone or something.

lol
no sunroof, not parked on a hill and still don't know what scuttle is? Only scuttle I know is a back one lol
Update: there was loads in the boot around the spare tyre think it's been running through into footwells.
cleaned it all out now but noticed one of the last things I did, the ariel broke and there were a long cable/wire hanging so fed it in my boot and shut it, could that be it?? Surely not?
Yet good news "no skid marks anywhere :)

missing spliff stored in headlining lol
water in boot could be rear lamp seals,or did your car go out and get a smack in the rear?

scuttle panel in days gone bye would be where the wipers bolted too.
but these all plastic grilles today so scuttle now refers to the trough beneath these.

you do know you can buy a new aerial that works without buying a new car.
