Hi all,

Have hardwired my openbox X3 to the router(Netgear 834). Length of wire is about 20meters.
The router is showing an amber light on this connection, which means it is operating at 10Mbps... is this normal?
Ask this as I get quite abit of glitching while watching $channels

Thanks

ps. My internet speed is 20Meg

Dunno, I would have thought it was 10/100 port on these boxes, but it matters not if its only 10 anyway as its only a miniscule amount of data that passes through, even the speed of a dialup modem would be fast enough...

Thanks for the info.
Thought the glitching be due to speed. Must be something else.
Will try to figure out why over the weekend.

Hi

Most likely overloaded server but no harm in checking out your cabling. Are your free channels ok.

20 meters is a long cable run, are you using a good spec cable, or a cheap 20m for ?5.99 crud??

btw, all the blurb I've read says the LAN port is 10/100 and I see no reason to doubt it, 10/100 has been around since the ark!!!!
(WE WANT GIGABIT ETHERNET!!)

glitching is probably the server, i was quite surprised how it varies in quality trying different servers

Also tried another older cable that I have which is about 10meters. It is the same at 10Mbps.
FTA channels are fine.
Comedy Central seems to glitch the most. The rest are acceptable.

Hi

Then its most likely the server. You could maybe try a test line with someone else and see what its like.
