Hi, I am really struggling to find Eutelsat 16. I can find Astra 19, and Hotbird 13 in just a few minutes, but can't find Eutelsat 16. I imagine that Eutelsat 16 is directly between the other two, but just can't find it!

I thought it was the size of the dish, but my new 90cm. still does not even hint at the existence of a signal. I use a cheap satellite finder that beeps like crazy, but the three set-top receivers I have tried just don't register.

I could understand it if there was a weak signal but the receivers just don't detect anything. There is a telephone pole about 50 yards from the house, but moving the dish a foot or so doesn't help.

Today I will try adjusting the skew and position of the LNB (back and forth). Please offer advice and help. Should it be easy to get 'something' from Eutelsat 16, should I just keep trying, or do you think the telegraph pole is in the way?

Thanks

could be that pole as 16e had a brand new satellite a year ago and is a strong signal and no problems here. your dish is big enough to pull it in if you are in the uk

Hi. For 16 east check if you have these FTA channels in your channel list:
MY MUSIC 10762H s/r 27500

KOPERNICUS 10972H s/r 27500

In London with a 1m dish i get over 300 channels(mostly SCRAMBLED). If you get 13 and 19 east then you should get 16 east. You may need to slightly adjust the dish down a fraction to get it. I cant see how a pole will let you get two satellites and not the third unless you are very unlucky.
Good luck

HI Nutsandbolts, I will look for those two channels when I can find the signal. You are right, the telephone pole is not in the way and I have ruled that out.

So, either I am not pointing the dish at the satellite, or my set top box has not been programmed with the data for Eutelsat 16 (which I suppose is very unlikely). I will have another go later. Thanks for the comments.

Hi. You can also try to send dish to 16 east and try a BLIND SCAN to see if it picks up anything. If it does not pick up anything then you know its to do with alignment.

Regards.

Finally found Eutel 16 deg.

So just a note for anyone else with a Ross HD DVB-S2 1201.

I used a cheap satellite finder (comes with the portable kit) to confirm the location (compared to Astra 19 deg and Hotbird 16 deg). Then just pressed scan, and it downloaded the channels. Once the programs were in the receiver, only then does the ?quality bar? indicate when the dish is pointing at the satellite. I do not know if that is normal, or if I should have gone through some ?add channel? procedure!

The channel data base falls over a lot and maybe it dumped info, when I had to replace it with a backup

Thanks to everyone for all your comments, and sorry I did not make it clear that I was adjusting the dish manually.

Thanks again.
