Equipment:
Receiver - Silvercrest SSR 576 A1
Dish - Old Sky analogue (solid white)
LNB - Wistron (14094) Quad
I get the main Italian channels, RAI1, RAI2, RAI3, RAIMED, RETE4, CANALE5, ITALIA1.
What else would I need to get to receive Freesat?
Thanks.

Hi. Your dish at the moment is pointing to satellite HOTBIRD at 13 east. To get FREESAT your dish needs to get signals from 28.2 east. I am not familiar with your type of receiver but in my opinion you have the following options:
1) Get a motor to move the dish from one satellite to another.
Check if receiver supports motor functions and also make sure your present dish mount is strong to install a motor.
2) Get a second dish/LNB installed pointing to FREESAT. You can then either swap cables over at the back of receiver to view one satellite or other. Or you can use a 2 way Diseqc switch to connect both dishes and select satellite via remote after setup. Again you will need to check receiver if it has Diseqc 1.0 etc functions.
3) You can install a second LNB on your present dish but will need an LNB holder for 13 and 28.2. Also with this option you can connect a Diseqc switch or swap cables over as already mentioned
There may be other options from members who have similar setups. I be honest and say i prefer the motor option . Either way you need to know how to set things up. Its not that difficult but the choice is yours. Before spending money just spend a bit of time on your receiver to see what it can and cannot do if you dont already know. Also if your receiver is patchable you may be able to view more channles from different satellites

the dish you are using really needs upgrading and your using a s*y quad also which has a different feedhorn for your dish. my advice would be get yourself a td78 dish,tm2300 motor, inverto black ultra lnb and a wall mount... all of this can be bought for about ?90 delivered and be fitted by a competant diy,er with a few tools and the guides on here... of course all this is if your reciever has disecq 1.2/1.3 protocol for motorised dishes which most have, regards mdt

Ok. Good news then. Diseqc 1.0 means you can have a switch connected. Diseqc 1.2 means you can have a motor connected as well. The choice is yours really. Are you good at DIY etc.?? You also need to know how to set up the receiver for either a switch or motor.
Regards.

Hi. Ok then so you are familiar with setting up dishes. I take it your receiver does not support USALS ?? With a motor you usually have two options for moving the dish ie USALS or 1.2 protocol. USALS is the automatic satellite search and 1.2 is the manual search and storing of satellites. They are both easy to set up but 1.2 takes more time. But as already mentioned you need to decide what you want to watch and whether your receiver is patchable etc.
Regards.
