ffs..i bought this today, thinking it was real, as i done vu+authenticity check and it passed....looks like ill have to pay the bloke a visit tommorrow, mind you it does work exacltly like my genuine duo..however have notice a few things..

1. the fan is constantly on,,,very annoying even in standby mode
2.only blackhole 1.7.5 image can be installed no higher version
3. the HDMI-CEC setup doesnt seem to work, as my genuine one, where when i turn the tv off the the vu goes into standy mode, but not with this clone v2 one..

the latter two i can live with but ****ing fan is doing my head in...specially when there is a quiet scene on the tv..even in standy mode the fan is still running, messed around with fan settings but still remains on....is there a fix for this..

Hi, i have a clone and installed Vix 3.0

the fan does stop on standby, i also replaced fan to fractual as it seemed to be loud

HDMI-CEC works fine on mine,

mine also passed vu+authenticity , i know mine is a clone as i also owned a genuine one,

try the vix 3.0 patched image works great,

how much did you buy it for ? and wrong if it was sold to you knowing it was a clone

as for the fan, i was thinking of ripping out the fan from an old thomson sk hd box that i have same size 50x50...im just trying to see if i can get my money back from the bloke..if not ill cut my losses and sell it..will throw in a hard drive 300GB as well, havnt tried a hard drive yet..im not so keen on clones, he assuered me it was genuine, like i said it passed the test so i thought it was genuine..hdmi-cec is no big issue, nor is the image bh1.7.5 is fine..not keen on vix images...as for the fan, ill try the sky hd box fan one if i dont get my money back if its still too loud ill try the fractual one...what are your hdmi-cec settings ? and what clone version do you have ?

i myself prefer Vix 3.0, i just set it to enable yes in hdmi- cec settings, i have no idea what version clone i have, i had it for 2 months now and been recording etc had no issues,

only issue i had the fan was loud but fixed that by getting a fractual fan now its slient with a 2.5 inch 1tb 5200rpm drive

Plenty of pics online to check inside of duo ie red black wires from psu to switch on clone.

This is genuine one.

You can adjust hdmi-cec settings individually also.

whats too late you only bought the box today! if the guy didnt state it was a clone then you should be entitled to a refund. how did you pay and how much? if the box isnt working correctly then get your money back or if possible go and see the guy and persuade him with a claw hammer or the like, regards mdt

i know mate went to see him..texed him im coming, got there he had gone out..paid ?195 for it..i have all the tex logs that i sent he said 100% genuine, prroof in the tex...hes mum and dad were there and said hed gone out..they will have a word with him as it wasnt a nice thing to do..still no call from him...drove 20 miles there and back twice..i did take my bro with me he is the persusive type, but as im not a violent person..i came back with the box...bought it from local paper..in the desription it didnt say anything about a genuine or clone box....but my texs to him asking if it is real confirmed he said 100%....actually its working fine..just the fan noise which i will replace with the fan mentioned..its jsut the fact that its a clone that worries me to be honesti concerned of the saftey issue, ie power supply burns out..house catches fire..i have a famiky to think of...hence the reason im not too keen on it..im thinking of getting the law involved as it wasnt what he said...mind you, i doubt if the law will do anything...will say its a civil matter...or something, im sure they have more important things to do..also i want to put the latest images on but thhat cannot be done..yet..

there are thousands of clones in peoples homes and ive never read of any catching on fire... granted the QC controls are not as stringent as uk/eu directives but i have a clone and im not concerned. regards mdt

is it not worth a call to trading standards
and send him a message that you have done it
and you've also consulted a solicitor to recover
the money

Unless bought from a trader with a receipt, which from the posts it sounds like someone selling privately through the paper secondhand in which case you have Zero rights.

Of course you have rights, if you buy anything that is not genuine, you are entitle to your money back. How you get it back is another thing.

Of course you have rights, if you buy anything that is not genuine, you are entitle to your money back. How you get it back is another thing.

You dont have the same rights as when buying from say ebay or a trader secondhand the sale of goods act states:

Firstly, remember that the statutory entitlement of quality and fitness for purpose only applies when buying from someone who is ?acting in the course of a business? i.e a second-hand car dealer. You do not have any legal recourse as regards quality where you are buying through an individual who is selling an item as a one-off private sale (although they must have legal title and it must be as described in the advert).

Secondly, when buying second hand, there is a general recognition in law that the reduced price you pay reflects the risk in taking ownership of something with a greater likelihood of developing faults or breaking down completely. You pay less because it is recognised you will have to pay the repair costs yourself rather than relying on the manufacturer?s warranty.

you would have to take the individual to a small claims court at your cost if you win you get the money back if not your more out of pocket.
