Having read around the forum a bit could anyone answer these couple of questions.

If i was buying a box of ebay, and it turned out to be a clone, after rebooting ten times the box would die? So if i bought one and quickly tried it ten times and it died i could just go through the process of getting my money back through ebay, as an side to this question can anyone point in the direction of someone they know who sells origianls?

Second question, if i follow the setup guide in the sticky at the top of the forum would i still require a 'gift' from somewhere or does the process avoid the need for the 'gift' ?

Thanks for any help

When buying from ebay always look at feedback, its not cast but will give you some type of idea, what type of box are you taking about?

Thanks for the advice the ones i have saved in my watchlist our the ones with plenty of positive feedback.

Boxes i was on about are the S11, f3 etc, from what i have read on here they are all virtually the same?

Thanks

I bought my F3 from ebay seller for around ?56, that included wifi dongle.

Its genuine, at only ?56 quid for a genuine piece of kit its is not really worthwhile cloning.

The F3 itself is a good cheap HD reciever, does the job for me so far.

All of the openbox S11 are clones from what I have read.

I know you can press buttons in the menu to get the chip ID displayed but I believe this is just software that sort of emulated the chip ID.

I have an openbox bought from ebay and without doubt it was made in china and is a clone despite the chip ID saying it's genuine....even the fuse in the plug was a copy !

Cheers.

Aye you have a point but you know the made in China I mean, I would bet it's a clone.
The instruction manual is in "Chinglish" and that badly printed, you can hardly make it out.

All of that said it produces a very good HD picture and works fine....still a good buy for just over ?50

Cheers.

I've just an advert on gumtree for a skybox f3 with 12 months gift for 120 pounds. This made me a bit curious and I ended up here after a google search. I gather that 120 quid is too much. Is there a absolute noobs guide for how to go about getting one of these boxes up and running?

The price is fine, the problem is how long with gift last? Usually not very long
