if anyone friends / family ect, ask you if you want their old PC they are throwing out, if you are a satfan like us on here, its worth taking it if its got a RS232 even if you just put it in the loft, it will come in handy if you need a reflash, i know this doesn't fix your problem, but worth a thought if anyone does get a offer of one

the computer I got now came from the town dump, somebody was throwing it out because of a bad cdrom drive.Other sources are second hand stores and church rummage sales or flea markets.

Sounds like the power board inside might have gone fubar... You can buy replacements on ebay, but then it might be a better idea just to buy a new shiny latest model box...

try loading firmware via rs232.
If you still get the red light it's a hardware problem.
s9 is getting dated anyway, there will never be any new firmware for it.

Try turning the box off and then back on, i used this on my box which had nothing not even a light on and it worked, but i did have to turn it off then back on 2 times, it was a bit slow to tell me what was happening so try waiting a bit if your not already that is.

Load the batch file first when you use eeprom tool.

I said this in an earlier thread you posted.
