Is the one from a sky box not an ide ?, whereas a Vu takes a sata hard drive, you would need a ide to serial ata convertor, there on Ebay for a few quid, and I believe it works.

What is the exact problem?

What image are you running?

Is it just not recording?

For BH images you need to initialize then mount.

If using PLi you need to initialize also but should auto mount.

If it does other aspects ie store picons but does not record, then add move dir to hdd and it will then will recording.

Just for future reference the Sky HD hard drives should not need formatting as the Sky HD receivers run a form of linux themselves, so as already stated just stick the hard drive in and mount via the blue button i have not yet had to initialise any Sky HD drive in any Linux reciever
