basicly alter config files for my emus .

i was thinking of using putty . im not brill on linux

i think i have to open port 22 on router ( diff location) then install ssh on the ubuntu .

then i think install putty on my windows pc at home ..then , i get stuck abit with the ip or dns setting in putty m8 ..

its a bit new this like .

the last time me friend done it for me ..he made it able for me to bring up the ubuntu desktop and do anything i wanted to which was great but it kept crashing sometimes .

so i think the putty way may be more reliable thanks.

hope you can understand me thanks .

if your m8 made so it bought up the ubuntu desktop
then he used a program like VNC

download VNC
RealVNC - Download VNC Viewer (http://www.realvnc.com/download/viewer/)
open port 5900 to your ubuntu ip
go to Remote Desktop
System -> Preferences -> Remote Desktop
tick boxes as in picture
make a password
then
install VNC to your windows pc
run VNC
type ip or dyndns address
wait for connection
when connected input password
now you have remote access to ubuntu

I use only ssh, no X installed on my cardserver...
Of course, it is a AMD K6-2/300 with whoppin 64M of memory so I don't see the need for X :)
Everything is faster with the terminal as well as you can fix things from your mobile, with Connectbot (android) :)
