Like yourself I have Lan connectivity in every room with the use of homeplugs. A couple of months ago I managed to persuade VM to upgrade me to the Superhub so my old lan/wifi router became spare. My daughter whose bedroom is the furthest room in the house from the broadband connection has always moaned about the wifi connection to her iphone so I used my old router upstairs to resolve the problem. What you need to do is connect your ddwrt router to your home network using the homeplug. You also need to make sure that wifi SSID and key are the same for both routers so that you can go upstairs and downstairs with your devices seamlessly and without being prompted for connection details. Alson make sure the ethernet cable from the homeplug on the second router is connected to one of the lan ports on the ddwrt router.
