I need to extend the phone line as im moving the socket. Question is, what is the best procedure to join 2 telephone wires, are there special connectors for this?

I was told that i need these connectors but not sure where to get them from? http://www.wikihow.com/images/8/80/Phone-wire-tangle%2C-exterior-riser%2C-London%2C-UK-4.jpg

Any electrical wholesaler will sell them. Just ask for gel crimp connectors.

Unless you feel it would be obtrusive, then I would just get another slave box and use the connections inside that to join the 2 wires. Solid copper telephone wire does not take kindly to being bent and twisted. However, if you are going to run a broadband connection off of this extension , I would try to use 1 length of wire back to the master socket and not join it at all. Joins in wires can pick up all kinds of spurious emissions. Phone cable is very cheap.

Forgot to mention, I will be doing this to a Virgin phone line if that makes a difference? Will them crimp connectors still work?
