Hi all,
I hope nobody minds me starting a thread for this, but I really, really wanted to extend a special 'thanks' to the geniuses - dell_Xps and drawflex - who have helped me get my softmod sorted.
Its now perfect, 100%, awesomeness.
And the 'top tip' to make it all perfect is...

... is read the noobie guide properly!
I thought I had followed it properly, and when the guide says "STEP 4 : Install goodies" I did install the goodies, but - I did not install the Alligator backup loader 'cos I thought "I'll install the updated backup loader, so I don't need that".
The alligator thingy, and infact, all 4 items on the second page of the WADs you can install, are needed to make everything tick.
So, the moral of the story is - READ the instructions then DO THEM ALL ;-)
TOP TIPS FOR MAC USERS:
During my searches, I've found 3 great apps for tweaking and burning wii ISO's - the first one is WiiJunkies which deals with the language and region of ISOs and also LiquidCD and IMGBURN, which are the best (free) burning app I've found. I've had success with Apple's Disk Utility too, but LiquidCD and IMGBURN have worked the most consistently.
