Has anyone been able to change v2 chip on the duo to a v3, think they can be bought for a few dollars from china if you have the skills to solder it on...

would you risk it to brick the box completely?could the rest of the box be overpowered?

i wouldnt attempt it unless really skilled in electronics repair. the boxs run fine on the earlier kernel/driver based images and unless the image update is absolutley needed i wouldnt bother personally, regards mdt

Ive done a bit of pcb soldering in the past, not an expert by any means.
But will wait and see if anyone makes a go of it...
Has anyone got the vu+ solo and duo VIX 3 image with old drivers...

I am sure that you will not get away with just replacing the v2 chip for a 3 as the memory wright speed is faster on the v3 so that is 2 more chips to replace.
Hope you have a microscope and a very steady hand.
Good look!

It's not worth upgrading to version 3 at the moment. My cousin brought one and the tune failed issue is more frequent. Stick with version 2, it is a bit more stable.
