Evening guys.
My brother in has recently moved to Oslo but was looking for a way to get Sky Uk - the reading I have done so far suggests that he will need a massive dish.
Anyone able to shed some light on it or is there any IPTV solution that would work?
Thanks in advance guys

a good quality 1.2m dish like andrew or gibertini should get him the encrypted stuff and the fta stuff off eutelsat 28a/b and its only the uk spot were bbc/itv/c4/c5 are/will be broadcast from that will cause problems. as for astra2f no-one knows yet as look at eutelsat7a@7west, the footprint ends at north africa but people in the uk can get channels from it. i think he would be better waiting untill 2f is fully in service with the bbc/itv channels before investing serious money on a system and suggest he has a chat with local installers in oslo as they can give an idea of what the locals are using for astra1n ect. at a push he could get a bbc entertainment card for about ?80 for 12 months and a cheap 80cm dish/reciever as a stop gap for his bbc fix if needed, regards mdt

You could always try the Slingbox route, I have a mate in Norway who hosts a Slingbox Pro HD to enable us to watch the 3pm games on TV2 PL channels in our club, we have a 3m screen and projector and we get HD quality. You need a good upload speed at the Slingbox end and a decent download speed at the receiver end, my mate gets 50 / 50 mbps upload and download speed in Norway.
I realise that for you to get Sky in Norway you would need to set up a Slingbox in the UK. I only get an upload of 2.66 mbps but on my home Slingbox this is more than enough to get a good reception whenever we go on hoiliday. You can also get a Boxee Box or WD Media Hub box to act as a reciever as these boxes come with the Slingplayer software already installed, you just then connect to a TV and control them with a remote control just like at home.

I have a WD media player and noticed it has the Slingbox software installed.
How do you go on with the remote control though? Is it possible to add the configs for your particular box e.g. I have a Blade 7000S and know that there is a file for its remote functions out there, but could I use it on the WD?
Hope that makes sense. I'm a Slingbox ignoramus. (Good post, by the way.)

I have the WD Media Hub, you have to learn the remote control functions, through the blue button you can access the channel guide and you can always memorize the channel numbers.
I also have Slingplayer on my laptop, you can download the virtual remote for Sky + and Dreambox 800, I did try to find the file for remote for my VU+Solo without success.
There is now a guide section on the Slingbox website for other connected devices like the WD by the way.

Thanks for the info. Those WD devices are nifty bits of kit.
