My son has the old 80gb fat ps3 and his fan is hellish noisy now so I have bought him the new super slim 500gb ps3.
Is it possible to copy the contents on his current HDD to the new one as he's panicking about losing all his stuff.
Cheers

I don't think you can but anything downloaded can be re downloaded as for noisy fan it will be because its running hot noally opening it up and renewing CPU/GPU thermal paste will help

you can copy all data from one ps3 to another
all you do is connect toghter via ethernet cable
and look for something in settings menu something on the lines of data transfer >>

choose either backup data (copy to external hard drive) or data transfer
then follow on screen instructions
for the data transfer both p3's need to be powered on and just swap hdmi from one console to another to view instructions on tv
