was there not a simular thread or two that got locked.

"138 memory locations" or something daft, did anybody manage to list them?

ON TOPIC:-

Sake of argument, you manage to IN-correct ALL on a Merc except say the seat or battery terminal, what happens?

If there is 136 memorys, is at LEAST one not correct?

They diagnosed BSI -quoted ?1,000,000 + VAT for the job.

Costomer fair enough didn't want to pay that, as we a SPECALISTS in BODGING can we bodge it, sure any chance of taking money, course we will.

So as part of the BODGING process needed to locate some wiring, figures it, out it isn't the BSI it's in fact the a faulty sensor on the air bellows

quite right, apart from the "young technician of the year" type.
You may or may not know that the 220 engine has suffered wholesale injector failure during the last 12 months.
Whenever they go in for new injectors and or ECU under warranty, they will be poking about in cdi in star, they will go to actual values> particle filter and guess what? ....yep...the kms!

granted they have no reason to look at ESP> actual values>TPM and see the last 3 actuations kms and last 3 warnings kms ,unless there was a brake or ESP issue.

They might not even look at the battery sensor kms or even the last 6 kms values in the adaptive brake.

and why should they look at the stored kms in both electric front seats?

But of course they will have a peak at the service records wont they?

thats why its ?300 for a proper job!:fisheye:

I assure you they do a very thorough job, the bonus relis upon the car being fixed first time without return. The standard of work is a bit better than the type you described above!

OFF TOPIC:-

We had a W204 - HAD to go to stealer for steering lock fitting, we fitted new lock (didn't plug it in 2 seconds) - picked it up EVERY warning light on.

We cleared them all with our OBD penknife - all went out and stayed out.

Just wondering how this car had got it made to UK.

Abritus or MB Kar Kleaner are the only two tools who do the other modules. Even when doing mileage with AVDI, you still have to reset the modules via adaptations afterwards. The newest version is a tad nicer as when you select the model, it has a new correction screen which shows the modules that need to be done and you can just click there and perform. Also, looks like they just added the adaptive braking km's via obd instead of reading eep, modding with dump tool and than writing modded eep back.

But not Wombling free.

ON TOPIC:-

So the above post mentioning Merc with tracking - so could that not store miles at other end - out of reach of your tools.

1. I meant "time" as in porridge, not as in apprenticeship!

2.
The only way to curb in-correction would be to use gps technology for kms storage on cars.

Well as long as NOBODY insults each other (too much) - what's the problem?

Tugley,
I think I pretty much have the newer models taken care of with this new can communicator. The damn thing is expensive as hell, users usually get charged here 1100usd with installation. Device is plug and play, works with cruise control stalk and can set miles in half, off, or work regular. The nice thing about it is that all modules stay in sync, unless it is diesel than you just need to do a dpf regen and thats it. Personally using these, its plug and play into the dash loom and I know job is done 150%

Yes whole job is plug and play. Just connects into the back of the wiring loom of the dash. Takes about 20 minutes all in all to remove dash, plug in can communicator, and put back in dash. When they need to goto the dealer I charge 100.00 for removal and reinstallation when they come back
