CAS OR STEERING LOCK

hi to all i have a 2006 bmw 1 series no start no ignition steering locked fault codes in cas say a0af cas processor. the customer complain that some times steering would not unlock but if u bang the steering wheel it sometimes did so does this look like cas or steering lock fault thanks

after doing some reading have seen this can be a cas software fault does any one recomend update using ops and progman.could still be column fault
