Ola Amigos,

Garage called me that he had bought a 2004 mk5 last week, he placed car in garage and after a couple days the dash was dead.
No light, nothing (and ofcourese course car is not running)
I went there tried a donor dash, just for confirmation that the problem is in the dash and not in the wiring/power.
and the donor dash direct goes on.

car is was involved in odocorrection, dash is a vdo.

Is this a common problem and can someone tell me what piece is causing this problem.

And is it possible to power up dash on bench, if yes pls post pinout.

Regards Adam.

A customer came to me with same problem dash dead 6 months ago, so replaced cluster with donor one and adapted immo all good. But on 3 occasions since he has had the dash go completely dead then come back to life. Amazingly he rang me this morning to say it had happened again, curious to know why this happens....

Just a small update, power is ok with pin 19 and pin 1 no need for can high and low.

I found that IC LOW DROP VOLT TRACKER (numbered wit TLE 4251G) gets very hot so you know if this is normal.

No, this is not normal. Probably there's a short circuit on board, or TLE4251G started oscillating.

I found datasheet of the TLE 4251G on internet and it says leg 1 is input, leg 3 is gnd and leg 5 is output.
leg 1 i measure 12 v
leg 3 is on ground
leg 5 there is no output.
So i suspect the TLE is not ok, but i cant find them @farnell on strange website.

Is there any replacement part for this or does someone know where to buy this part.

Is there someone that could sell me one piece of the TLE 4251G.
They are some kind of rare and i only find them with shipping cost about 20 usd, while the part costs only 2,89 usd.

This will work only when hw & sw version is the same.
Very hard to find the exact same nr,s.

I have 2 other dashes overhere but both differend hw/sw versions.
Also all 3 pcb's are diferend otherwise i would have swapped part from good pcb.

Just a small update, i was able to find the same dash in scrap yard (same nr's) changed eep and when i put it back in the car it works for about 1 minute and then goes black.
when i try to start the car, the car dont start.
Also none of the indication lights is working, does anyone have an idea what is going wrong.

And how hard is it to change the dash for a other one (pairing it with ecu and all other module,s)

Regards Adam

Lost your thread during winter holidays. TLE4251G could be found on this shop (http://nl.rs-online.com/web/p/low-dropout-voltage-regulators/4627889/?searchTerm=TLE4251), here (http://nl.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=TLE4251G) or here (http://www.digikey.nl/product-search/en?x=17&y=14&lang=en&site=nl&KeyWords=TLE4251). Shipping costs can only be avoided if you add some more goods to your basket. You may download datasheet from factory (http://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/searchProductTypeSP.html?query=SP000306322).

Did you ever replace your voltage regulator by a stabilized power supply to feed the board externally. Just to check if there are other components which may cause dropped voltage.

last time I got this same - 872 cluster. Crypted, desoldered eeprom + micronas and solder it to working 862 Board, Cluster wake up and was possible to read immo data.
