I purchased RAM from Crucial. I installed the RAM too the total of 4gb in 2x2gb slots. I have ran the laptop but it is only registering 2gb whether in the system bit thru control panel or the bios. How do i activate the further 2gb?
Thanks in advance.

Does your Laptop actually support more than 2GB memory? And is your operating system 32bit or 64bit?

according to this spec 4gb should be do-able

more than likely one is not being detected. try them one at a time.. if laptop fails to boot - bad memory. May also just need reseated, in which case taking them out will do it.
os? BIOS reports 2gb..? ;)

I'll give it a go later and see if thats the problem I looked in the bios and it said it only had 2gb registered.

One of them was rattling about under the cover when I removed it. I now have 4GB registered, but it says only 3gb is usable when I look at the system through control panel?

Thats because you have a 32bit Operating System... You'll need to install a 64bit OS ..

I've downloaded it off the link that Gazz put up, but when I go to load disc, it won't let me? But the 32bit loaded no bother.

What have you downloaded?
Windows 7 Home Premium 64x
I had previously downloaded the 32x version, which I installed without a problem on laptop. The 64x won't even load after I click run, it comes up with an error.

Yeah, that has done the trick. It now seems to be using the full RAM.
Thanks for your help.
