morning all hope everyone is well. i brought a skybox f3 yesterday and seems fine, however the tv guide epg only shows now and next. i was told to leave it on for thirty minutes and eventually all the channels will sync. i left it in all night and still the same this morning. if i move down to the next channel on the list within a second it shows whats on now and next and so on so in. i was also told it has the latest firmware on the box. can anyone please help me as its driving me mad :-). also what is the latest firmware and how do i check please. by connecting to another server would that change the epg aswell to a better one or is the epg stored within the settings and has nothing to do with the server. many thanks all and kind regards, richard

As far as I know now and next is all you can expect, you sometimes get a bit more on freesat channels but thats hit and miss.

agree with portbhoy, its probably only a now and next box, now and next is the normal open standard on satellite boxes
but to be sure, check the openbox section of this forum
what you require is a box that can download the epg either off air or over the net

so by downloading a new tv listing wont resolve it either mate?.

I dont know your box but its at the cheapest end of the market and I personally dont thing it has a 24/7 epg , which portbhoy didnt think so either
you get what you pay for , and so on the satellite you are probably testing it on there are only bespoke epg`s for sly and freesat, not for you or your box
there are some boxes that get around this using off air downloads or the internet, like the tm5402 , blade bm7000s, any vu or dreambox, a few icecrypt boxes and others I may not know about
but boxes costing less than a ton tend to have just the basics and I believe yours to be one of them
it has nothing to do with channel lists or s*rv*rs or whatever
its either in a box patch, or its done with plugins like on a vu or dreambox from an external internet source
surely you checked this out before purchase ? if it was so important to you ?, its not as if its a secret as its been discussed hundreds of times
my blade does it off air on one channel as its a feature of its patch like the tm5402, my dreambox downloads it from the internet using a plugin (crossepg or cooltv or similar plugins)
if you buy a box for say ?50 you cannot expect what the big boys get, and now and next is the international free system which pervades almost every satellite broadcast, so what you see is what you get, the 24/7 epg is bespoke and requires more work
EDIT
as I said previously , check the openbox forum for skybox help
had you done so you should have read this posted in october

Does not matter what list you put on, you will only get now and next

I gather you are talking about a certain UK provider.
Now & next only for that.
However,
On other satellites , it does work to a certain extent.
I know for a fact when on Cyfra, you can see a few days programming in advance.
