Use another car sitting next to one being flashed with jump leads running across. Not ideal but its so hard to get a regulated supply for this purpose.. only found one seller and they wanted around ?450+VAT.

Yes it is hard to get a regulated supply, especially on the go but The running Engine from another vehicle is a good source. I'm going to fit and Anderson connector underneath the grill on my van and make a nice long set of these.

Why you don't make it?You have some skills to do that?I can help you with power supply 0-24V and 3A (enough if you have battery on you car and it is also enough if you work on bench with ECU).

Your charger won't charge VRLA batteries very well... you will be there all day with that.

Battery chargers aren't stable... They can spike a high voltage which could interrupt flashing creating a nice door stop for your office door...

Use a Filter capacitor of 15v or above while doing on bench. you could use one for in car too, but the amps would fry it i guess..

The cap only breakes when the voltage applied is to high, resulting in a too big current and a dielectric shortage. Then, the "amps" will destroy it, yes ;)

The battery is a much bigger cap, so adding an extra cap while flashing in car is totally useless.

forget standard batterycharger, boosters and never use a battery
the only efficient solution is is a buffer
best example is bmw buffer when they reflash a car

a good alternative is bosch bat490
you will never have a failure with it

no damaged me7 or mss52/4

I need one of them, right now I'm in a search for one of them.

As a user Badog said apparently that is a good one.
