Looking into getting one of these in the next few weeks. Have a good idea of what I'm doing but ... I need to ask why it needs the Internet? It will prob be the fx3 I get but if there is a better one I would like to know. I'm just after a simple epg with hd that I can record. Any help would be good thanks

most boxes especially cheap boxes only have a now and next epg and require an external usb hdd or memory stick to record onto
the internet is usually used for cs which we cannot discuss here

So can you get ones with a better epg if you spend a kill tale more? Any chance of a pm with what cs is? Because to me that could stand for anything. (Chocolate squirrel)? Lol

a blade bm7000s or technomate tm5402 can download an epg from a particular transponder, and linux boxes use plugins to download the epg from the net instead, so yes a few will do the job, and some of the linux boxes like the dreambox or vu can have an internal sata 2.5 inch hdd fitted inside to make them into a pvr too (which is highly preferable)- some will even take a 3.5 inch sata hdd depending on the box
I dont do pm`s but am sure you will find out what it means
have a look at this guide I posted last year seeing as its on the same page as your thread (page 1)

A pm would have been better instead of risking the crawl Bots all over the site
