2000 Mercedes ML 320 strange problem
Hello
I had a ML 320 with strange problem today.
Customer traded in the car at his yard, and had 128 on the clock, realized the dash was flickering, and then it became 0 by itself. Since the. He drove about 600 km. brought it to me today with 600 on the clock, asking to put it back up to 128. I noticed the dash was showing ------ sometimes when u switch the ignition on, and showing 610 km afterwards.

The car has 16 pin obd port. I tried smelecom, digiprog clone, Poland original digiprog, and nothing could change the kilometers. I then took the dash out, realizing that the needles have to come off, I put the dash back in the car without doing anything to it, to try obd one last time with Tacho universal. When I put it back in the car , it was all Zeros. 000000 km. now it shows zeros, and sometimes dashes, like u would get on later model mercs if the ezs was not in sync with the dash.

Would someone know wat the problem could be ? Also if I could get a dump to try , as I have only done these cars on obd before and never had a dump.

Thanks
Steve

check connection pins on board for dry or fractured joints
also check connection plugs

Thanks mate. I looked at it closely, and found,
Every time the dash is disconnected, and reconnected, it becomes zero. When u drive , it's works ok, and counts km from zero, say u did 20 km, disconnect, reconnect, becomes zero again.

I would replace the eeprom then.

You are right, EEPROM stuffed. Can read but can't program. Thanks a lot.

for 99-6 and up most of the time It can't be done by OBD has to be done CLIPED

Of course replace the EEPROM manually. Used a c66 from a spare HILUX cluster I had, but didn't work, will try new c66
