Hi
I need help with Volvo truck VNL780. It does not have tachograph. I found 24c64 inside. Current value: 813923.7 miles. I need +/- 595500 miles.
I found another dump from same cluster :

I tried to find where are miles located by compare them but no luck. I think they are somewhere between 04A0 and 04E5, but probably I'm wrong :)
Help please
Thanks,

I think miles are stored in 12 bytes.
String: 58 30 2A 1C 0C 0C 0C 1A 07 06 80 00
But changing only first 4 bytes, then next 3 are constant, next 3 bytes changing and last 2 bytes constant.
I'm guessing miles are stored in those strings: 58 30 2A 1C and 1A 07 06
Exact miles on display: 813923.7
I tried to somehow match dec to hex, but no luck.
Maybe somebody can help me find algo for this.
Thanks,
gauch

where are you located ? you can change the dashboard via diagnostic plug...use premium tech tool for volvo...but anyway.....the mileage is stored in the engine ecu...no matter if it's volvo, cummins or detroit diesel engine....also is stored hours counter...and can be easy readed without diagnostic tool....just look on dash menu....datalog....total distance...i'm looking for ecu mileage rollback solution....so,i think it's useless to change only the dash...

Thank you for clarification. Thats means miles and hours are stored in ECU and dash only adapts to those values, rigth?
Btw, I'm in Illinois

not even sir...so...again...
- engine control unit store hours and mileage...but also store datalog for total distance, total fuel burned, fuel burned at idle...bla-bla...a lot of data and history....also store datalog for the last trip...the cummins ecu store also engine abuse history,etc...volvo ecu store last 150 hours history about engine sensors value...some of these data are sent via CAN to the dashboard, to be displayed (including total distance :dong:)
- the dashboard store mileage too...
so...you can change the dash....and the "new" mileage will be displayed...but it's useless work...job it's not done completely without changing the ecu mileage...if somebody take a look in the dashboard menu...it's easy to find the real mileage....
i hope now it's more clear

I think this is first time on this forum somebody explain me so clearly. thank you for that.
now I got it.
what if ECU goes bad. how this is handled by dealers?
how data set up in new ecu or its left as new with 0 miles and 0 hours etc.

in the premium tech tool software that is used for diagnostic...there are 2 section in menu..."change component" and "mid 128 programming"...these section are used to transfer data and settings from old(bad) ecu to the new ecu or,(depend of situation, hardware or software troubles), to adjust settings in the new ecu...when the diagnostic software, transfer data and settings from old unit to the new unit (including engine ecu mileage and hours),you have no choice to see or alter data...so,i was thinking about a new ecu...but...anyway...a new engine ecu is to expensive to be used for a mileage rollback job...i think nobody will pay so much...so...i'm looking for old or useless unit....for "educational" purposes

I will ask few people who service semi's, maybe they have some ecu they can donate for experimenting :)
