have an MED9.1 here today to read (car was already chiped but owner made some other upgrades that require file modification)

Try with MPPS V12 and stopped at 3%...tryed again stop at 1%...change speed stop in some other %... allways saying ECU not respond

try with other MPPS V12 and didn?t even ID the vehicle

try with KessV1 and stoped at 2%.. change to every speed possible and stops at 1 or 3%

try with FGtech V48-084 and didn?t work at all (it does not have the CAN filter)

The owner said that the car has an strange issue, the radio sometimes goes off and the door lock opens in the same time.

ELM didnt?found any issue...

Next week I can try BDM on it, shall I try ?

MED9.1 in a non-turbo car? I doubt that!
2.0 16V FSI 8P uses MED9.5

Sorry, forget to make it clear, the car is TFSI (the old one with older engine and MED9.1)

Could have seed key changed. Clone tools not good on this ECU. BDM is your friend.

Mpps reads car fine. Maybe car has had trial software or is read protected. You will need to flash Ori to car.

When car has read protection you can't read or id these cars. You also will have to wait 45min after attempting to read as it locks ecu out all together.

Maybe try id today with out attempting to read if not you need to look on ecu for hw and sw numbers and write original.

If you have bdm this will however bypass the read protection and will read entire ecu. The file that comes out however will need old winols before 1500 to open or find noread key in a hex editor.

yes, bdm is a much better tool for these.

And if you can modify the ECU, then you can write a tune from scratch..

Check faultcodes with VCDS. Typical ignitionlock problem with these. Behaves as you say.

thank you, I guess i?ll try BDM it if the owner want it.

Don?t think it?s a good idea to try write it if I can?t even read with one tool by OBD hehehehe

Fix the other problem first, then write over OBD. MED9.1 recovery works 100%, at least with original tools.

For me, the strange thing is that KessV1 start reading and stop at about 2 or 3% (one time stopped at 1%) and MPPS stopped about ramdom percentages (all less than 5%) saying ECU not found.

It didnt?lock the ECU any time... allways started the engine after every try, so i guess it is something that cut the conection to ECU (CAN or some power issue)

I guess if was an read protect it would read and save encrypted (Am I wrong ?)

Car has a protected tune file. Trust me. Seen this issue before with these ecu.

Can you i.d ecu? Try I.d without reading

Yes, Both did ID the ECU (but I didn?t write SW/HW)... tryed read every speed (recovery in MPPS too hehehe) and tryed without ID with no sucess.

Think it would be time to BDM it (never used my BDM100 tool) chinese clone is relyable ? any hint ?

my clone cmd works great. just make sure pin orientation is correct. dont want to burn bdm port!

The hint is flash original file.

You can I.d but you can't read. Seed key has been changed so no tools apart from bdm will read ecu.

Ok, if customer comes back I?ll try BDM it.

How it?s made ? seed key is in flashprom ?
