Can anyone explain if there is a easy way to test if a capacitor is working correctly?

Check for short circuit across the terminals then reverse the multimeters leads and you should notice the reading change as the cap charges (difficult on small values) some meters have a cap testing function .

Old style/analog multimeter are the BEST at these....
These day,any decent multimeter got cap testing function

I'm 10000% shure that this pic is from Opel 1.7 Isuzu EDU module, there are 3 of them, change it with new to be shure there wil not be problem in the future ;)

Some multimeter has a capacitance or you can you used capacitor meter to do that, select a large value in the capacitor meter and measure the value of the capacitor if the value of the capacitance is the same or less slowley that you get in the meter as the value on the capacitor the capacitor is working correctly.

ESR meter is best way to test capacitor , you can use analog or digital multimeter to test but you have desoldered to safely measure.ESR mesure onboard.
