e46 motometer totally dead

hello guys does someone know what part/parts ussually die in a motometer dash of a e46.

i have one here for repair.

for info no correction was done, just a dealer car and dash just died.

I am not sure what year the car is but There is 35080 eep inside, i Will check voltage on eep.

Today i had some sparetime and check voltage on eeprom (5,6 v on pin 1) did some component soldering on pcb but no result.

Only abs light is on further no sign of life in dash.

Any one have some suggestions.

had a few broken ones come my way, it was cheaper to buy used ones and change eeprom...rather than spend hours trying to find the problem..

Pin 1 of a 35080 is negative. Pin 8 is 5 volt+. If you have 5 volt+ at pin 1, there is a dead short somewhere. Arthur.

,but check with diag tool, the ZKE modul( Central Body Modul) and check the fuses, but I nt shore that have it for Dash

is it only this problem with car? central locking work,windows ? lights work, inside , outside? all this is get power 12v from ZKE modul

if you have P.A Soft ...its work the best on this Bmw

Guys today i checked eeprom and either its dead or empty i tried to read but all 00000000000.

So could someone upload a dump for me in km pls.

Vin should not be a problem, i can change with xprog.

Thats true, but dash comes from a garage in my area and he needs to ship it to the owner.

But i will trie and report.
If there is a benz version always welcome.

regarding all the time you loose, i may say thas it's better to buy a dash from a local scrapyard for less then 50?..

I wish it was that easy, i called @ least 15 scrapyards but nothing only, the old dash before 2000.

and for the old dash they charge @ least 100 euro.

Like i Said i cant Find one!!!!!!!!
@ least 15 company,s i Called but norhing.

Second thing is i want to learn from this project, in the future Other members Will have Same/similar problem and they can use this solution.

The strange thing is that the car was good and after battery replacement, it suddenly died.
Check all on board but no strange things to discover.
When i Checked data on eep norhing except 0000000 so my conclusion is Or eep dead Or data lost.

Can someone confirm power up on table Will show milleage etc on display.
