After having problems with my solo all week regarding vix image, now my friend has just rang to tell me his duo psu has just blown, he said there was a loud pop and it blew the trip in his house.

If anyone can remember this duo was discussed not so long ago, the box would turn itself off if any pressure was exerted at back of the box. This was from day 1..

Now I have taken another duo power supply and it is working great but I need that power supply as its from my uncles box.

Do you think the guy I bought it off should replace psu or is that down to me. Box was bought in October

Anyway, the major problem is now there is no display on tv, just says vu+ duo on duo display. So I flash new image, still no display on screen but I change to scart input and it is working fine.

So hdmi is not working. Has this happened to anyone else when their psu blew as HD input was working fine beforehand..

Can the hdmi port be replaced easily. I had a look at it, there is one screw holding it to the motherboard but even when you take that screw out it seems like its not going to budge. I am not going to try too hard to pull it off as it i may do damage...

And yea its a clone...

just send it back to the supplier and ask for a replacement if its under warranty

You can't just pull the HDMI port off, if you do you'll rip off the tracks that it's soldered to.

What type of HDD did the box have? 2.5" or 3.5" I'm convinced that if you get a clone it's not safe to use a 3.5" HDD as the PSU is just not up to it.

Its a 3.5 inch 80gb wd drive and its a clone. The guy is going to let me return duo, will be driving up to see him after snow clears.

Like a new motherboard will def fix my problem, righ? And it would also turn my duo into a v3 box if its a v3 board is that correct. Maybe i should just say to him to get a bew board in from his supplier and we could fix box together when it arrives

So did the new psu not fix this my m8 had one that had no hdmi output and new psu fixed it

strange this all happens to a box that you have been putting pressure on around the hdmi port when you had trouble with the hard drive you may hope your supplier does not read about it did you get it from aspley sat

you would need to be sure the hdmi is not damaged were you where pulling at it with screw removed as this is soldered to the tracks of circuit board

The box would loose power with very slight pressure at back of box. At first i thought it was around hdmi port but it was anywhere towards the rear. The box also lost power even while completely stationary.

It started again and the psu blew, i fittes a new psu and its running, but only through scart. I looked at hdmi port, undone the screw but never pulled at it, i seen tht it was connected to the mobo and its wasnt meant to be removed.

Ive had a fair few vu boxes of this guy and never had to return a single box.

Its a genuine return through no fault of my own...
