Hi,
I'm trying to do an ECU swap in my nephew's Mazda 3. It was a 2.0L, he has dropped a 2.3L in, the 2.0L ECU will start it, but it barely runs. The 2.3L won't even crank, of course, because the IMMO codes don't match.

I'm struggling to read the chip numbers, they seem to be covered in some goop. The image is the same PCB as yours. Can you please tell me which chip is the EEPROM on this ECU, I tried replacing the IC at the bottom near the crystal, which is missing on yours. That was a chip with a slightly narrower case style, which is why I guessed that one first. Still no crank.

Any help appreciated.

All good, got it fixed. Swapping the 24C02 chips between the ECUs got it running. I did guess correctly which chip it was, just my solder work wasn't up to scratch on the first attempt.

Cheers,
Dangar.
