iv got to change the top mount on the strut on a 1994 astra, its the one with the 2 bolts either side to mount it to the strut top and the nut in the centre to hold it on the shocker. does anyone know if the complete strut/hub etc has to come off to change this part, or can it be done by just dropping the strut down a little and using spring compressers??

no as shock has to be removed from vehicle it goes under the wing,if u are replacing mounting consider front shocks as well, safety and comfort.

done them today, compressed the springs while the struts were still attached, they drop just enough to slide the old mounts out and the new ones in,, bit fiddly though!
