F3 is solid and most common, but I prefer the remote and interface of the open box x3

Hey Mezzyg, thought i'd jump on the op's post :)

I was just looking at the X3

A lot of sites are now stocking the X5 as 'replacement to X3'. Would you recommend I still look to get an X3 for a simple additional box or the X5?

And would you suggest the X3/5 over the F3 in my case? I saw some F3's on Fleabay for ?45 which isn't much cheaper that the X options, so I guess i'm just looking for opinions on the best 'second box' option from peoples experience.

I have a BM downstairs so haven't seen anything of these openbox types.

Thanks in advance
:sheep:

I have got a x5 but haven't had a play with it. I'm going to try it tonight, it looks a good box, 2 USB ports, great remote, interface is sweet aswell

I would say open box x3 over f3 , only because of better remote and rear USB.

X5 only time will tell.

Stay clear of X5 not a patch on X3,F3,M3 or F5.

F5 would be my choice.

X5 lacks support, different channel format, not compatable with any other stb.

Ahh didn't know that, I'm sure converting the Dbs file would be pretty straight forward

If you can afford ?139 go for a maxdigital p1000 as its a real enigma 2 box with real support and a full 7 day epg. I know its a fair bit more and takes some learning to set up but its a superb box in comparison.

I have had a vu duo and a few of the cheap skybox's and the p1000 is almost as good as the vu in my opinion.

I thought I could get used to a basic box but found them a bit hit and miss.

I personally would go for either F3 or F5 (virtually the same f5 has scart, rear usb and external psu). I had the openbox x5 for a while but at the minute it has too many really annoying niggles and is harder to set up.:ciao:
