Hi guys.
Been doing loads of reading on the forum. I currently have an F3 which I am very happy with but was thinking of upgrading to a single tuner which I can install a 7 day epg. Not too bothered about recording. After something not too pricey and easy used.
Which box do you recommend and best place to buy that box.
Thanks guys.

If you need 7 day epg then tm5402/blade

which blade box

bm7000s, which is similar to the tm5402

alternatives are single tuner vu like uno or solo ,or dreamboxes like the dm800

closed source then tm5402hd(epg for 28.2e only)at ?130 if motorised then vu+solo clone(?100) or dm800hdse clone(?130) with 7 day epg for most main providers using crossepg/coolmans. personally i wouldnt have a blade 7000 hd given me although they do seem popular with the 28.2e brigade, regards mdt

Ok, thanks guys. So what has been recommended is the tm5402, the blade 7000s, the vu uno or solo and the dm800hdse.
I don't have a motorised dish and dont plan to.

I have been reading about people with the blade and technomate having problems downloading and viewing the 7 day epg.
Would the vu uno or solo or the dm800hdse have a more user friendly 7 day epg available and do all of the boxes above need to have a hdd connected via usb to download the epg?
Sorry guys I am a complete beginner!

as MDT has said if your only interested in 28e get a tm 5402 hd
for multisat use one of the linux boxes, the only thing i would add
is with all the problems clones have go for a genuine box, on the tm5402hd
the epg is easy to set up etc and the quality of the box is good
and at about 130 notes a very good buy,

blade and tm5402 update from a certain transponder
nothing wrong with a blade for 28 east usage

the linux boxes can either be set for transponder updating or for internet updating, or both. with a linux box its advisable to use a usb stick formatted by the box and usually in a rear usb socket out of sight. the sticks are cheap to buy and well worth doing for epg and picon storage

Does the blade and the tm5402 both need a usb external powered hard drive to store the epg on our would a usb memory stick work?

dvb 500 hd with a usb stick fitted internally would do the job nicely

as far as i'm aware you dont need a hd or usb stick
to get the epg for 28e on a tm5402hd box.
