I was having problems with the pVR recording function so contacted Technomate and they suggested updating firmware with the latest update. I have just done this and unfortunately I am having problems.

Just downloaded the update file from the Technomate website dated 7th March 09. Went through the update procedure on the receiver, everything went OK with the update process, file downloaded 100% to the receiver OK but then the receiver shut down as if to reboot but then did not reboot and the receiver has just died. I left it for approx. 30 mins but nothing had happened, no display at all.

I left receiver for a while longer but still nothing. I then switched off the receiver using the switch on the rear, left receiver for a couple of minutes and switched back on, the front display cycles through the four dashes and then goes bank and nothing happens.

How do I restart the receiver? How do I reset back to factory settings so I can use receiver?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Paul

i take it you loaded the official software from technomate.com?
first are you sure you loaded the correct software for your model?
next did you load it with a memory stick?
next do you have a null modem cable?
it's certain you had a glitch in the software download and to
clear the problem the receiver now needs a forced download
and this can only be done with a null modem cable and the v187 loader this is how you do a forced download
[1] download and open the official or patch software ready to load
[2] connect the null modem cable from the computer com port
to the rs232 9 pin port on the rear of the receiver
[3] turn the receiver [OFF] with the switch on the rear panel of the receiver
[4] open the v187 loader panel and click the browse button on the panel and find the software you wish to load and load it onto the panel
[5] next click start on the loader panel and when it says connect to the receiver and turn [ON] on the loader panel go to the receiver and with the switch on the rear panel turn the receiver back ON then just wait a few moments and you should see the download taking place on the loader panel once the download has finished the receiver will now work
as normal again [ on rare occasions this does'nt work the first time and you could need to do the forced download again to get it to work]

Hi

Thanks for your quick reply

Yes, it was the official download for the correct receiver, I was directed to correct update in a link from Technomate, I did check model number was correct.
It was loaded from a memory stick as I do not have a null modem cable.
I will try and get a null modem cable today. Can I get one with USB connection at computer end, they are usually shown with 9 pin plugs at both ends, as I do not have a RS232 port on laptop?

Thanks again
Paul

null modem cables have 9 pin ends both female
and i know laptops and all new computers now
dont usualy have com ports i'm the same and
i ave to use a usb to serial converter cable so
i can use a null modem cable but these can
be very tricky to set up and get the driver working i
got the usb to serial from maplins and with
windows vista premium home o/s when i plugged
the device in vista set it up, and it works first class
but as i say others have had lots of problems
this is just a thought if you say what erea your from
ie: birmingham etc not your address there could be
someone near you that will do the download for you
i'm in the north west erea of the uk

Many thanks Benny/9 for your help. I bought a USB to serial adapter and null modem cable and have updated frimware with just a few trials and tribulations to get the adaptor working. Important thing is 5400 is now working again.

Once again thanks for the help.

Hello

Still pretty new to all this, I have alot to learn and get confused with the technicalities and jargon most of the time. I have just updated the firmware on my 5400 super with the latest patch from this site dated 07 03 2009. Which softcam updates do I need to upload to my receiver to unlock channels? Do I need to change any settings on the 5400 super once I have uploaded software/keys to view channels? Do I need anything else to view the channels taht are unlocked with this patch and softcam?

Many thanks for your patience.

you load the latest tm softcam to update the keys
is your system motorised? if yes check on thor 1w
and see if nova sport is open? if not load the latest
softcam, you load this with the memory stick just
like loading the patch it loads in second then all the
digi-tv chns will open,if your useing the null modem cable
and the 187 loader panel first set the loader to keys then
loaded the softcam the most chns are open on this satellite
at the momen there are other chns on sirus 4,8e
a few chns on hotbird and a few on astra19e
