Ok the gearbox ecu which by the way is called a TCM sits inside the gearbox. you need to put the vehicle in the air on a lift, drain the gearbox oil, remove the round electricl connector plug from the rear of the gearbox and the shift cable, (keep the vehicle in neutral and mark where the cable alainment is before you remove it). Remove the rear cover of the gearbox and then the 3 torx bolts holding the TCM in the gearbox. Be very carefull when fitting the new one.

My friend you don't need to replace the TCM as you can repair it 100%. The 2 fault codes you have is for G195 and G196 sensors. This means the alumiaium wires inside the TCM have come loose and you need to solder them back on and it will be 100% working again. Remove the TCM and once you have it out inbox me and I will explain to you how to repair it.

P1793 = transmission output speed sensor 2 no signal
P0722 = transmission output speed sensor 000 no signal

These you can repair without replacing the whole TCM unit.

If ever you work on a Audi CVT gearbox and you get any of these 4 fault codes then you will know it is a problem inside the TCM and then you can repair the TCM.

Go to this thread and read it very well especially the posts by JP_olli as he is the master in repairing these units and it was from him that I found out how to repair these units and now I repair more than 5 units every week. Such good info you will not find on any other forum in the world.

What about this fault?
18149 - Clutch Pressure Adaptation: Limit Reached

I had an A4 CVT, lost drive at idle and then would thump into gear when taking off.
Reset adaptions and performed relearn adaptive drive backwards and fowards etc, I could get channel 11 to adapt but not channel 10. But fault was gone, yet probably still in learning mode? as far as I know the car is still driving round ok

Many people get fooled by that fault code 18149 and they do the clutch adaption as set out in ross-tech wiki and the vehicle is ok for a while but 95% of the time when I get those codes on audi cvt gearbox it turns out that either the valve body is faulty or the clutches are worn and have too much clearance and thus lose of pressure.

Thats what I thought, Alldata states for that code to replace the valve body. But other garage said they would rather fit a second hand box????
I did wonder about a software update to increase adaption tolerances? just advised them to take it to dealer for update and then if required replace valve body as I couldnt see it being an ecu problem. Car had only done 70000km

I see that happen everyday where a garage has told the customer to replace the while gearbox. (only reason they tell the customer to replace the whole gearbox is because 99% of the garages have no idea of how to repair the audi cvt gearbox). I can assure you that your problem is the valve body which is faulty I know this as I repair them everyday. Best of luck and keep us updated please.
