Morning guys.
Whilst were about to do some home improvements. Im considering putting more satalite feeds into rooms.
Current setup is Main room and 1 bedroom. I'm thinking of another 2 rooms at the moment, could go more later.
Can anyone recomend good HD LNB for it and how easy are these to change? I also want to check dish allignment so again any advice would be great.
Cheers

changing an lnb also relies on the dish and feedhorn assembly
the ultra black is going to rely on the buyer having the correct feedhorn on the dish, so basically one that can accept a 40mm round collar
without knowing the current dish and feedhorn assembly its impossible to answer the question as far as practicalities like changing the lnb
but if your current feedhorn is a standard 40mm collar then its straightforward enough, but if its a sly dish then it could be one of many and some sly lnb,s are moulded especially for the job as an all-in-one unit
so unfortunately, not enough information or pictures in post #1 to advise, but a standard sly octo is fine on a sly dish for this

I'll get ladders out and have a look. At this moment all i can tell you is its a 90cm dish on a motor
Or could i just take a zoomed in photo of the LNB and Dish?

either would be fine, but its clearly not a sly dish so should have a standard 40mm collar and so you could use a modern sly quad or octo, or for better results the inverto ultra black mentioned earlier which is what I have on my motorised dish (but the twin inverto)

As most have suggested the Black Ultra Quad is a very good LNB certainly on a par with the Invacom Quad as well for sensitivity, The technomate you have at the moment are still produced and sold now but with anything competitors have caught up and brought out newer and better LNB's
If your going for a quad then the main 3 contenders to look at are the Black Ultra, Invacom and a new kid on the block getting rave reviews is the Optima Octagon

While your doing your home improvements, why dont you put a fixed dish up also looking at 28 :)

Because it took me ages to talk mrs into have a 90cm on a motor in 1st place, also i want the ability to watch other sats in different rooms, I know only 1 box controls the motor so that would be the box downstairs.

Cheers for the info. How easy are these to change? I never fitted the dish etc as not good with heights on ladders.
Also need to check allignment out so will need advice on that. I know i need a meter and move dish to 1w but thats about it

If your doing a straight swap for the technomate LNB dependant on how high the installation is try and move your dish to either east or west the furthest it will go to see if it is at an acceptable height to yourself for an easy change over.
On a motorised the LNB has no skew so just replace with the new one as it is at the moment.
As for the Alignment if you have a Linux receiver and either an iphone or android you can download the signal meter app which can lock to your box and give you the signal readings again this will also depend on your wi-fi range from your router, other options include getting a mate round to keep an eye on the box readings for you while you adjust the dish on 0.8? east, last resort is to get a local installer out to do it for you.

I understand you want to watch other tv in different rooms and thats why you want to add the quad or octo lnb :), but my post into putting a fixed dish up also at same time as your upgrade of lnb will open more options for you.
Plus imo a zone 1 dish is not too big to add alongside your motorised setup.
I have a fixed and motorised plus a diseqc switch and it saves a lot of hassle when a want footy on 13 and she wants easties on 28 but in different room :)

Yeah knew where you were going with that m8 however we have virgin in also so i dont have that issue. Yes as you said would save ear ache if i wanted to watch the fottie on 13e and someone else wanted something on 28..2. If the mrs did not want the virgin in then the fixed dish option would definatly be more appealing to me and my setup. But funnily enough there is a unused dish on the other side of the house thats coming down in the near future, that could end up being replaced with a mini dish :)
Anyway i have decided i'm going with the inverto black ultra but wont be fitting it for a couple of weeks as doing it all when loft is getting done. I could not find a 8 port black ultra only sly hd
Thanks for advice everyone and will post up when its done and dusted.

Just an update guys.
Invertos Black Ultra Quad fitted. Checked 2 lines and they are fine, will wait till loft is finished then look at others. My major issue was the tuner in the 800HD now thats changed, signal is spot on, 100% on some channels, i was not getting that on anything, never above 65-70% so dish dint need a nudge.
So basically, all finished and fitted.
Thanks for the advice as usual guys
