I am having trouble getting the sky uk channels? when i do a satellite search i brings up all the french sky channels but not the uk ones?
What am i doing wrong?

its not pointing at 28e when you do the search if it gets anything other than uk channels

make sure its actually pointed there before attempting a search

damm i was at it all day yeasterday trying to get this sorted. thought i finally had it..
done everything as said. pointed motor true south and sorted elevation and dish angle?
seems i will be back at it after work.

i will say it is moving across and picking up satellites? surely it would have to be correct if it is going into other satellites?

suggest you do not mention a certain uk provider too ;)

nudge nudge

ensure your motor points true south which for the uk is usually uing 0.8w or 5w for reference, but for usals can be any satellite really

then make sure your usals settings are correct for your location

once you have signals, peak them and ensure you get FTA channels on each and every satellite. use a catseye list or similar and check cbs action and bbc1HD and other fta channels like the vault on 28e to ensure you get the correct satellite, concentrating on fta channels from each satellite, not a certain uk provider ;)

once you can step through the sats and can see and hear fta channels that are correct for each position, only then have you set it up correctly

therefore you cannot get french channels when on 28 east as they are uk and english speaking for the most part, including bbc and itv channels

french channels tend to be on 13e hotbird but there are some on a few other positions too

so if it is stepping between satellites , select 28e, and try cbs action , bbc1HD and itv, if they work its correct, but any "foreign" language channels would mean its not even pointing at the correct satellite

Do you get uktv bbc1 etc if u do then get someone to look at your dish to see if it moves when u goto sky from uktc it should move 1 inch only my guess is you will move 15 degrees west to 13e lets know how u get on

its also worth noting that there arent any french sly channels, there are german and italian and uk on 19e and 13e and 28.2e respectively but france uses canal plus and other broadcasters and is generally 13e and 5w

Well ive almost got it sorted. Got the astra satellite 28.2e getting all my bbc and itv channels so def on the correct satellite. Checked my elevation settings on the motor and it is all correct. The dish angle i just fine tuned when i got the astra satellite. i can move to astra 19.2e and get a full signal 99% but moving the other way 13e i get nothing, when watchin the signal as the motor is moving to this sat it seems as if it goes past the sat, as signal jumps up then dissapears.

So i just download the catseyes settings file and put all the files into the /etc/enigma2 folder on my vuplus ultimo reciever? should i delete all files that are currently in that folder?

a new channel list overwrites the current one

back it up if you need to do so, then load in the new list

use vucc , or dreamboxedit or dreamset

it will also be on the plugins server in some or most images in which case you download it

Load them using dreambox edit.
Theres a guide on here and do it on your laptop.

My laptop runs ubuntu so dreamboxedit can be a pain, hevent looked into it too much yet. My vuplus box runs the blackhole image so i am sure it has this catseyes plugin in it somewhere. will have a look about for it.

Am i reading right that my dish is setup correctly but as it seems my vuplus is moving to motor to the wrong position for some of the sats? and this catseyes plugin will help it in giving the correct position of the satellites?

sorry if i seem like a total beginner in this.. but that is because i am :)

i do appreciate all the help i am getting here

What image are you running on the Ultimo as some have direct built in downloadable feeds for plugins and Channel settings which are kept up to date on a regular basis Blackhole image's feeds are at the moment around 2 days old.

Your image may allow you to download Catseye settings or even Vhannibal straight to the box so no PC required all you have to do is reboot enigma when the list has gone over.

try the online update from BH server if running BH
the new catseye list is now out

no it wont help you get the correct sat position
its a premade channel list by catseye for E2 boxes meaning you dont need to scan for channels

you will have to setup usals if that is what you are using , and once set correctly a channel list will move the usals motor to where the satellite required is, providing the motor was setup correctly in the first place

google usals and you will find a full explanation, and there are sticky threads containing motor setup guides at the top of this forum too
