Guys,

I have recently got an s3600. I have a few questions that I am sure that some experienced users will be able to answer.

Is there any way to get auto 7 day epg, instead of having to request it everytime that you go into epg section?

Currently having a problem where we are recording something, but are not able to watch any other channel. For some reason, it only gives a few other channels of which to watch at the same time. Is there a setting that needs to be changed as I was under the impression that we where able to watch any other channel?

I am also going to be upgrading the firmware to s3600hdcci.v2.11.34.2013jan11, Does anyone have any good tutorials on how it can be done quickly and easily?

Hoping someone can help...

Thanks - ab25657

seems to be a single tuner with single feed input and loop output so the available channels will be one at a time unless they are on the same transponder

you need a twin tuner box with 2 lnb feeds to watch one channel and record another (like the 4000s)

This is a twin tuner, of which I have been able to record and watch at the same time, but for some reason it will only allow to select a set selection of channels. Not sure what the problem is to be honest. Any ideas anyone?

according to my google search (I checked a few online retailers) - its a SINGLE tuner with 1 lnb input, not 2

so the problem you described is typical of a single tuner box

the s4000 is the twin tuner box, with 2 separate lnb inputs as are the 3700 and the 6000

Ok that's a bit rubbish, as the retailer that I had purchased it off stated it was a twin tuner and that I could record 3 services at once. Is there anything that I can do here?

its most definitely not a twin tuner box m8

its a single tuner box that can record up to 3 channels at the same time so that part is correct

the caveat is they have to all be on the same transponder, as you found out with its limited capability and I did tell you this fact in my first reply

if you look on the back of the box it has 1 lnb input and a lnb loopthrough output

a twin tuner box has lnb1 input and lnb 2 input as well and usually they have loop outputs (but now always)
they also need 2 feeds from the lnb, but I would think you only have one, each tuner needs its own feed for full control

you could take it up with the retailer if its been mis-sold

I can assure you its a single tuner as I checked flea bay and an online sat superstore before my first reply and any other replies afterwards

Sure makes sense. I have contacted the supplier now. Any idea on the 7 day epg being automatic instead of selective? If I was to buy another box to replace this one, do you have any advice for what I can get sub ?200?

you get what you pay for, and some boxes like the dreambox or vu or amiko alien or technomate tm2t have crossepg or coolmans epg or similar that allow you to set your own update times like say 0700 daily, or you press a button once or twice to initiate a manual epg update and save to usb stick

nothing is truly automatic but you can automate the process instead of relying on a human being doing various actions

I cannot recommend any twin tuner box under ?200 for this so will leave to others, all I will say is buy an original vu duo or vu solo2 and those are the only 2 I will recommend providing you buy originals and not clones, but they cost more money

Look for a better Linux Enigma2 Box than an icecrypt

?220 will get you a TM-2T OE twin tuner same broadcom chipset as the Duo shop around and you could find it cheaper.

To be honest I am really looking watch + record other functionality. This is mainly to the wife chewing my balls as I am watching the football and she wants to watch her stupid shows haha! So the tm-t2 has rf out which will help with my magic eye so that we can watch in another room etc. vu+ duo hasn't from what I can tell. Any other pros and cons? You guys are the ones in the know and I will trust your judgement :D
