You can swap LCD , not need whole cluster.
But I never seen Golf 6 with bad LCD . You may plug used cluster first and see is that really problem.

AVDI genuine would do the job, but VCDS will not, complicated system compared to older models, you'll need to get CS code from ECU to program, the keys back into used clock etc. etc.
So first task you need pin for that clock, next task pin for 'second hand clock' next task, CS from ECU/clock.
Final task program clock/keys back into the car and your done.

after cluster swapping you have problem with ABS coding.

Check dash has LCD ribbon cable plugged in.

I have had problem with these before they were obd there is a resistor on ribbon cable that comes off if you have had cluster apart try this first
