Skybox f5 remote

Hi i bought a brand new skybox f5 and the remote control hardly works i have to be right next to the box the furthest i can go is like a metre away, i told the person i bought it from and he gave me another remote but its the same problem, is there anyway of getting around this or maybe buying another universal remote, is there any remotes out there that you can connect to the skybox thanks.

The IR receiver inside the box on the pcb might be out of position so its not got a clear view through its opening... Might be worth checking inside and adjusting it if it looks like it needs it, or get the box replaced by your seller...

am having the same problem if i change the IR Receiver would this make it work better
