Mercedes C-class 204 ESL failure

Hi guys has anyone successfully repaired a ESL unit from the above vehicle? EIS is fine just the ESL wont unlock the steering column and no ignition lights to start. Thanks

change virgin esl and authorized service adap..

Thanks do you have any info on removing this type of esl as it is different to the c203 esl.

To remove ESL make a hole a rotate big sprocket with a screwdriver. Usualy the problem in esl it?s motor brushes, before romove check for relay click.

No relay click, nothing at all. The esl is not connected to the column on the w204 like the w203 model. Unless i'm blind and missing it completely. What tools are you using to complete this repair?

The esl is not connected to the column??? where is your esl?

You need remove column.

The column is different to w203 models, it has an aluminium cage above the column which is not accessible unless the column is completely removed. This is where the lock/unlock cable from the eis seems to go.
