EDC16U1 is monitoring EGR via MAF.

Correct me if Im wrong, but im about sure that so it is.

edc 16u1 shows no error when you make the mechanic off ;-)

Wrong m8,mechanical close of EGR on EDC16U1, bring you in 100-200km error ,I say this from my experience.

i have test it on old BkD edc16U1 engine a3 and 20000Km no error ;-)
